La Liga Transfer Rumors: Top 13 Players Possibly Spain-Bound in Summer Window

Blake ThomasJun 7, 2018

While it feels like we are just getting over the end of an exciting 2010-11 season in La Liga, the next season is already less than a month away from kicking off.

With the drama of Barcelona and Real Madrid growing more intense, the rise of minnows Malaga, many managerial changes taking place in Spain and a number of other big headlines, we are guaranteed an interesting and amazing season this year.

Transfers have also dominated the news in Spain with many high-profile switches including those of Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Fabio Coentrao, Alexis Sanchez and more.

The season is drawing closer, and teams will be looking to add their final pieces, so let's take a look at 13 players who could still make the switch to Spain before the summer transfer window closes.

13. Andre Santos (Fenerbahce)

1 of 13

Interested Clubs: Barcelona

It's one of the more obscure rumors of this summer's transfer window, but it makes sense, as Barcelona are looking to add to their arsenal with the acquisition of a solid signing at left back.

Although they already have a strong player in Eric Abidal, they aren't too keen on Maxwell and could be lining up a move for Andre Santos as a replacement.

Santos played for Brazil at this year's Copa America along with Barcelona ace Dani Alves, and it would take an offer of at least €12 million to pry him out of the hands of Turkish champions Fenerbahce.

12. Giovani Dos Santos (Tottenham)

2 of 13

Interested ClubsSevilla

Giovani dos Santos is no one new to Spain's top flight, having started his career with Barcelona and completing last season on loan to Racing, but now, it is Sevilla who are looking to provide the Mexican international with a bailout from England.

Dos Santos, who put in eye-catching displays at the 2011 Gold Cup and played in the Copa America, finds himself stuck at Tottenham where he has seen limited playing time despite his vast amounts of talent.

Now, however, Sevilla are after the youngster but will have to fight off strong interest from Serie A club Udinese.

11. Hugo Rodallega (Wigan)

3 of 13

Interested Clubs: Villarreal, Sevilla

With the departure of Giuseppe Rossi still a more than likely reality for Villarreal, the club are rumored to be looking at Premier League striker Hugo Rodallega.

The Colombian, who played at this year's Copa America and totalled nine Premier League goals last season, is also attracting interest from fellow Spanish club Sevilla, who lost star striker Luis Fabiano in last season's January Transfer Window.

Either La Liga outfit would have to be quick to snap up the £15million-rated forward, who has also been linked to Arsenal, Everton and Aston Villa.

10. Lucho Gonzalez (Marseille)

4 of 13

Interested Clubs: Villarreal, Malaga

Olympique de Marseille's Argentine midfielder Lucho Gonzales is creating quite a buzz in this summer's transfer window.

The playmaker was originally looking destined for Malaga, but terms couldn't be agreed upon, and now, the 30-year-old has been linked with a handful of clubs, including Villarreal, Roma, Fenerbahce and most notably Premier League giants Chelsea.

Although it still remains unclear where Gonzalez will end up next season, Villarreal and Malaga present the player with decent options after his current club have brought in midfield reinforcements Alou Diarra and Morgan Amalfitano.

9. Mauro Zarate (Lazio)

5 of 13

Interested Clubs: Atletico Madrid

As the Sergio Aguero transfer saga draws on and on, Atletico Madrid have already started to eye up replacements for their Argentine star. One of the most highly linked options is fellow Argentine international, Mauro Zarate.

Zarate, a versatile attacker currently playing with Serie A side Lazio, is also being linked with Paris St. Germain and Manchester City and may be looking for a move after his current side brought in strikers Miroslav Klose and Djibril Cisse.

8. Daniele De Rossi (Roma)

6 of 13

Interested ClubsReal Madrid

It's a rumor that's been floating around for quite a while now, and it's mostly died down, but don't be too surprised if Real Madrid come back swooping in for Roma midfielder Daniele de Rossi. Contract talks with current club Roma have stalled, and De Rossi may be looking for a move away from the Stadio Olimpico.

He has also been linked to  Premier League sides Chelsea and Manchester City, and although it may not appear he is needed at Real Madrid, the club are always ready to spend when the opportunity presents itself!

7. Ezequiel Lavezzi (Napoli)

7 of 13

Interested ClubsAtletico Madrid

Another Argentine in the frame to replace Sergio Aguero at Atletico Madrid, Ezequiel Lavezzi could leave current club Napoli although Walter Mazarri seems determined to keep his star players.

Lavezzi played at this year's Copa America and was also a vital part of the Napoli side that finished third in Serie A last year, qualifying for the Champions League.

He has also attracted interest from Ligue 1 side Paris St. Germain and big spenders Manchester City, but a move to Atletico Madrid wouldn't be a shabby option for the 26-year-old forward.

6. Radamel Falcao (Porto)

8 of 13

Interested Clubs: Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid

Although Porto star Radamel Falcao has recently extended his contract at the club, raising his buyout clause to a whopping €45 million, the club may still be willing to sell if a good offer comes in, and that is exactly what capital rivals Real and Atletico Madrid have in plan.

With Jose Mourinho looking for a third striker and Atletico Madrid looking at a host of prospects to replace Sergio Aguero, the two have turned their attention to Radamel Falcao, who scored 39 goals in all competitions last season, including a record 17 in Europe as Porto claimed the Europa League.

He won't come cheap or easy, with former Porto boss Andres Villas Boas also keen to bring his old star to new club Chelsea.

5. Javier Pastore (Palermo)

9 of 13

Interested ClubsReal Madrid, Malaga

With Palermo president Mauricio Zamparini and head coach Stefano Piolo all but resigned to losing star player Javier Pastore in the summer window, it's practically a done deal. The only thing left to be seen is where the Argentine playmaker will end up next season.

While Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United have all been linked, the club admitted a while back that Spanish clubs Real Madri and Malaga were leading the chase for their €50 million star.

A move to Real Madrid wouldn't make much sense, and Malaga looks like fantasy football more than anything, but the youngster himself said he would like to play in La Liga one day.

4. Emmanuel Adebayor (Manchester City)

10 of 13

Interested Clubs: Real Madrid

After playing for Real Madrid on loan last season, it appears that Emmanuel Adebayor is the most likely candidate to fill the squad's need of another striker.

Adebayor currently plays for Manchester City but has stated his desire to leave the club who have treated him poorly, with club manager Roberto Mancini even saying he is happy to see the Togolese forward leave.

Although he hasn't exactly been in top form, Adebayor showed the world what he could do during his years with Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur are also after the striker, who's preferred choice is a return to the Bernabeu.

3. Carlos Tevez (Manchester City)

11 of 13

Interested Clubs: Real Madrid

Another Manchester City striker and another Real Madrid target, Carlos Tevez is looking to finally leave Eastlands for good.

After vocalizing his displeasure for months and stating time and time again that he wants to be with his family, it now appears that Tevez is on his way out, but only for another European club.

Brazilian giants Corinthians were linked, but after their bid was rejected, it appears Inter Milan are the new favorites to land the Argentina international. However, Jose Mourinho is still looking for the much talked about third striker, and Carlos Tevez is no bad candidate.

2. Neymar (Santos)

12 of 13

Interested Clubs: Real Madrid, Barcelona

He wants to go, he wants to stay, he loves Chelsea, Real Madrid is his destination—the transfer speculation of Brazilian starlet Neymar could go on and on! However, it appears the 19-year-old's transfer saga is finally drawing to an end, with the Santos star left to make the final decision some time in the coming weeks.

Whether he will be coming to Spain now or next year remains to be unseen, with the Santos player reiterating his desire to stay in Brazil and play in the Club World Cup this year, however a move in this transfer window is still very possible.

Real Madrid look the most likely destination for Neymar, but reports also claim that Barcelona are willing to meet his hefty buyout clause. Which club he will end up at is anyone's guess, but he will be playing in Spain sometime in the coming future.

1. Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal)

13 of 13

Interested Clubs: Barcelona, Real Madrid

It's one of the longest ongoing transfer sagas in world football, and probably the most irritating, but it should be coming to a close soon with Barcelona looking to finally wrap up a deal for their former youth player Cesc Fabregas.

Real Madrid's name have also been thrown into the frenzy, but they won't beat their Spanish rivals to the punch this time. Fabregas, who has been continually linked with a return to the Camp Nou, is the current skipper at Arsenal and while Arsene Wenger isn't keen to see his talisman leave, he may just be satisifed with the €40 million return.

It's unclear what Pep Guardiola has in mind with the purchase of Fabregas, especially considering Barcelona's strength in midfield, but fans at the Camp Nou would love for their former star to return, which could be happening any day now.
