Cash in the Argentinian: Carlos Tevez to Corinthians Benefits Manchester City
Carlos Tevez. Every time I hear the name, I want to puke.
For the past year, Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has expressed his dissatisfaction with the club and how he would like to leave. The next day, he's fine. The next day, he says he dislikes Manchester. Then he wants to stay. Then he wants to be closer to his children and family.
It never ends.
To Tevez's defense, by going to Brazilian side Corinthians, he would have to take a cut in his wages in order to be closer to his two daughters. But knowing Tevez, will he really be settled at his new club? In a year, will he be saying he wants to move to Spain?
That remains to be seen. But having Tevez in a dressing room can in no way benefit the club. He cannot be a leader, but he can be a tremendous goal scorer on the pitch.
So basically, if you can deal with Tevez's antics (Manchester City deal with A LOT of antics from several players) then you are getting a great player. But, if the on-field product is not worth the off-field one, you have to think he is not worth it.
Manchester City are a club striving to win the EPL and eventually the Champions League. As we saw last year, both Man United and Barcelona had selfless players who only cared about the team, and that's how they were so successful.
If Man City are wanting to move forward and become one of the big European clubs, they can't have a player constantly bad mouthing the staff and giving the club a bad reputation. Sure, the drop off in goal production is huge, but let's not forget, Dzeko really hasn't had enough time to prove himself.
If that doesn't work out, the club has as much money as anyone in the world, and because they are in the Champions League, they won't have to overpay for players.
Tevez has just been a big headache for the Eastlands club, and I think that his behavior off the pitch cannot be allowed by a big club, no matter his offensive production. It has seemed like Mancini has even been a little scared of Tevez and afraid to sit him down and say, "You aren't as important as the team."
And if City want to be a big club competing for trophies year in and year out, that can't happen.
Let's just see how long Tevez lasts at Corinthians before he becomes dissatisfied with something.
