Arsenal has made its first signing of what will hopefully be a productive summer. 

After elongated negotiations and many statements from the Ivorian concerning his love for Arsenal, Gervinho is a Gunner.

Overall, Gervinho could have a significant impact on the squad—and the Premier League—next season.

This signing is good for Arsenal for a variety of reasons. Here they are.

Versatility

If Arsene Wenger decides to stick with the 4-3-3 or go with a 4-2-3-1, Gervinho will be comfortable, as he has played in a similar setup with Lille.

He can play either to the left or right of the striker, as well as in the hole right behind him.

This versatility can help the squad adapt to situations in game and give the opposition trouble.

More Attacking Options

With a host of more talented players around him, he could possibly increase his productivity even more.

One would expect a player with a Brazilian nickname to have skills.

And Gervinho has a lot.

He has the ability to beat his man with tricks or with pace, and this can lead to a great number of opportunities for him and his teammates.

Gervinho has dreamed of this move for some time.

After his first season in France back in 2008, he was already casting glances at the Gunners.
