Arsenal Transfer News: Cesc Fabregas Saga Will Begin to Wear on Gunners
The Cesc Fabregas tug of war is not affecting players from Arsenal. We know because they have to answer countless questions on the possible move, and they have said as much. Yes, it is about to get tiresome at Emirates Stadium.
The constant struggle over the marvelous midfielder and Arsenal captain, Cesc Fabregas, takes another turn this summer.
Barcelona would very much like to reclaim the youth that once wandered the halls of their academy. They just want him at the price they are willing to shell out.
Arsenal is just as willing to sell Fabregas off to Barcelona, knowing full well that his heart lies with the Catalans. Yet, they would like to get fair value, or what they deem that to be.
What we have is an offer on the table, a player nursing a hamstring wondering where his next home will be and a team left to answer questions about it all. In the middle is the thought that Arsenal will be without their captain and best player next season, souring an already lackluster summer.
Make no mistake, Fabregas' situation haunts the halls of Emirates. It has to. Arsenal defender, Johan Djourou, recently told BBC on Barcelona's failed bid:
"We know there will be stories but we know what we're aiming for and what our goal is. We want to be successful so we don't really get distracted by this. If he [Fabregas] goes, he goes."
His words are not as important as the fact that he and other players will have to answer questions ad nauseum over the course of the next month.
It will not end there. The looming exit by their captain will continue until the January window opens. By that time, Samir Nasri and Fabregas will have jockeyed for touches on the pitch as well as the hearts of the fans.
In the same report, Djourou insinuates that the side is better when Nasri can stretch his legs during a Fabregas exit. These are the types of lines that will hurt their next campaign if Fabregas sticks in London.
There is no certainty about the situation, and that makes it tough for a finely-tuned squad to gain momentum headed into the next season.
This is not the only headache that manager Arsene Wenger has to quell. He has to manage the fact that Samir Nasri wants out of the Gunners kit as well.
The Arsenal winger is getting courted by Manchester United, and is very keen to leave. The Gunners could very well be without their two most dramatic on the field presences.
That has to weigh on the minds of those that are stuck to wage war with Arsenal next season. You can't gain traction in this league if you believe two of your players are being forced against their will to stay in one place.
You never want to lose two great players, but it is time to cut and run. The soap opera will only get worse, and the nuisance will reach it's hand into the locker room.
Once there, it will spread like cancer. There is only one way to make this end for the better of all parties—take the deal that is beneath you, Arsenal.
It may pain you to do so, but that pain will be brief. You will enjoy the relief from the headache you would have had to endure for a season.
The time for Cesc Fabregas to leave London is far overdue.
