Liverpool Transfers: Charlie Adam Fee Agreed, Doni to Be Next

Thomas AtzenhofferJul 6, 2011

The news of Liverpool and Blackpool agreeing a fee for Charlie Adam has been all over this morning.

He has been a major target for Kenny Dalglish since his installment in the hot seat in January, and his failure then looks to have been finally rectified this summer.

Initial bids in January were in the range of £6.5 million, and Blackpool looked to try and seek at least double figures for most of the early summer, but it looks now that the fee is set to be agreed at around £7 million plus a player.

The Guardian suggests it is closer to £7.5 million and a player, but at this point, who is counting? Further speculation from the Daily Mirror state that it is £8 million, so really it is anyone's guess unless Liverpool officially announce the total cost for the Scottish International.

The Daily Mail even have pictures of Kenny Dalglish driving Adam to his medical. Filling out the list of sources is also the Telegraph that lists the fee at £9 million.

At any rate, Blackpool more than certainly got their moneys worth from the player after he only cost Ian Halloway £500,000 from Ranger a few years ago.

Rumors of whom the player could be have also bee all over the place it was initially thought that it would be a one-year loan for Jonjo Shelvey and then an additional inclusion of Stephen Darby.

However, the Seasiders were audacious enough to ask for a third player to be included, young Liverpool defender Danny Wilson.

Needless to say, Liverpool have put up with a lot of negotiation to try and get their player, and whether many believe he is a worthwhile acquisition, he definitely should feel wanted.

He will look to make a name for himself at Anfield as he becomes the second signing of the summer following Jordan Henderson's move from Sunderland early in June.

Aside from Charlie Adam, after reports over a week ago had ruled out the transfer of Roma's Alexander Doni to the club due to not meeting his wage demands, it appears now that the player could become a Red within the next two days.

Doni had been hotly linked with Liverpool during the first weeks of June, and after the cool down it looks like it will indeed be a possible move after all.

His agent Ovidio Colucci was quoted in the Guardian as having said:

"

"In the next 36 hours we will know something definite. Liverpool are interested in Doni and there is the agreement between the two clubs and with the player. Doni is in Italy right now.

"We just have to ratify certain details with Roma. If the deal is completed, Doni will join Liverpool on a free transfer and will sign a two-year contract. Doni is very happy with the chance to play in the Premier League."

"

If he does indeed join the Reds, he will make an excellent experienced backup to Pepe Reina and will certainly spell the end of Brad Jones' career as a Red as he will most likely be sold or loaned out.

It will also give youngster Peter Gulacsi another chance to be sent on loan to earn valuable first-team experience somewhere.
