Liverpool FC: Ranking the Top 13 Moments in Reds History

Liverpool is one of the most storied teams in all of England. They have won the league title 18 times.

The team has had ups and downs but their triumphs rival all of the best clubs. Their history has placed them with the best teams in the country.

Here is a list of the top 13 moments in the Reds history.

(This list is in no particular order)

March 15, 1892

1 of 13

The birth of Liverpool Football Club was on March 15, 1892.

What can be more important then the inception of the Reds. They were able to come in as the second team in Liverpool and make the city even more football crazed.

August 24, 1892

2 of 13

This is the date that the blue side of Merseyside moved out of Anfield.

The Reds then took the sole ownership of the historic field. They no longer shared their cherished pitch that has seen so many amazing memories over the years.

1900-01: League Title

3 of 13

This is the first League title that the Reds were able to win.

The first time for anything is always monumentus and this was no different.

Liverpool won the league by only two points over Sunderland. This would have been an exciting season to watch.

1961-62: Second Division Title

Liverpool was able to restore their life in the first division with this title. They have been able to stay in the top division of England ever since this title.

For a team as historic as Liverpool a lot of people forget that they did have time down in the second division of England but they were able to recover and be in the top flight since 1962.

1983-1984 Season

This is the first time that Liverpool recorded the treble.

They obtained the treble by winning the League, League Cup and European Cup. This was a very important feat for the club as it showed the teams strength in the 80’s.

August 13, 1977

This is the date that Kenny Daiglish signed for a then-record fee of £440,000.

Kenny Daiglish went on to have arguably the best Liverpool career ever and becoming one of if not the best player the Reds have had.

He is also the current manager who many hope will bring success back to the club after a recent slip-up.

May 25, 2005

The 2005 Champions League final allowed for Liverpool to win another major trophy during their league title drought.

Rafa Benitez came in and made his mark on the Reds history with this win against A.C. Milan.

The game finished 3-3 in regular time and Liverpool was able to get the win in penalties.

October 2010

This is when the Fenway Sports Group took over ownership of Liverpool.

It is still to be seen what the group can do for the Reds but the future likes bright because of the fact that they want to put money into the club and get the team back to its former glory.

November 29, 1998

Steven Gerrard, current captain of the Reds, made his debut on this day.

He is one of the hardest working players and when is all said and done he will have put his everlasting mark on Anfield and Liverpool FC.

Wearing the captain’s armband seems to make him excel and this is a quality the supporters look at and admire.

Early 1960’s

ā€œYou’ll Never Walk Aloneā€ is one of the most amazing chants in the world of football. It can make the hair on your arms stand and a spine-numbing chill run through you.

November 2007

11 of 13

Liverpool beat Besiktas in the Champions League 8-0. It was a record-setting score line.

It was one of the most dominant one-sided wins in the tournament's history.

January 8, 2011

12 of 13

Roy Hodgson has been a very successful manager but he was not with Liverpool.

He holds the record for shortest reign out of all of the Reds managers.

This is a top moment because it marks the start of brighter days at Anfield. With the Fenway Group backing Kenny Dalglish the team looks like they could obtain their glory again.

1989-90 Season

13 of 13

This was the last time that Liverpool has won the league title.

The Reds have not been able to win the league in the Premier League era. This is a tough thing for the Reds faithful to swallow.

The new season is coming and another chance to put this drought to an end.
