Glasgow Celtic Manager Neil Lennon Targeted with Explosive Devices

Neil Lennon Targeted by Thugs in Nail Bomb Terror

Explosive devices, believed to be nail bombs, have been sent to Celtic manager Neil Lennon and two high-profile fans of the Glasgow club it has been reported today in Scotland.

Sources have said the devices, sent in the past month, appear to have been intended to "kill or maim."

The devices were found at various locations in the west of Scotland, the first of which was found in Kirkintilloch sorting office with Lennon's address marked on the parcel in March.

A second parcel had been delivered to Trish Godman's office in Bridge of Weir and staff contacted Strathclyde Police when they became suspicious. This package is thought to have been posted in Ayrshire with a postal worker coming across it in Kilwinning.

There was also a further package found also in Ayrshire, this time in Saltcoats.
This third package was addressed to Mr. McBride at the Faculty of Advocates in Edinburgh.
Mr. Lennon's lawyer, Paul McBride QC, and former deputy presiding officer of the Scottish Parliament, Trish Godman, were the other two people targeted.

Lennon, a 39-year-old Catholic from Lurgan, County Armagh, has endured years of threats, abuse and violence and had previously quit playing international football for Northern Ireland in 2002 after a death threat, said to be from loyalist paramilitaries.

In January this year, bullets addressed to the Celtic manager were intercepted at a sorting office in Glasgow. They appeared to have been sent from an address in Northern Ireland.

OUR VIEW

This is a new low for supporters of football in our country. For anyone to stoop this low is just sickening.

Like him or loathe him, the guy is just doing a job and no one could blame him for walking away from Glasgow Celtic after this latest set of death threats.

Lennon doesn't need this stupidity and it is a dispicable act by some small minded, cowardly people. Let's hope it ends here and we can only be thankful that the devices didn't explode in anyone's faces.
