EPL: William Gallas Signs Two-Year Contract Extension with Tottenham
William Gallas, the former Chelsea and Arsenal defender, was a cheap and unexpected coup of Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp. It was alleged that he had joined Tottenham out of desperation after being snubbed by a number of British and European clubs. Some of the claimed issues were his age, wage demands and long-term fitness.
Tottenham fans were not exactly reassured by performances at the start of the campaign. The most notable set of defensive blunders took place at the San Siro and Reebok Stadiums when Spurs went four goals down against Inter Milan and Bolton, respectively.
But his return to the Emeritus ended up being a turning point for both Gallas and Tottenham. Spurs came back from two goals down to win the game, and Gallas showed Arsenal fans and manager Wenger what they gave away to their bitter North London rivals.

Since then he is now considered to be yet another value for money acquisition by Redknapp. Dutch playmaker Van de Vart and future England right back Kyle Walker are both out-performing their price tags.
"The club is delighted to announce that William Gallas has signed a two-year contract extension which runs until 2013," according to a statement on the club's official website.
"The experienced France defender has impressed at the heart of our defence since joining the club in the summer following the expiration of his contract at Arsenal at the end of the 2009/10 campaign.
"A two-time Premier League title winner with Chelsea, William has made 28 appearances in our colours to date as well as captaining the side on occasions in both the Premier League and Champions League this season."
