Liverpool: 6 Signings That Could Brighten the Future with Kenny Dalglish
All eyes were on Liverpool during the January transfer window, as the Merseyside giants made two of the biggest signings, and possibly the biggest sale, in their club history.
The departure of Fernando Torres, who traded his beloved Reds for Chelsea blue, saw a fan backlash for the ages, as his picture and jersey were burned on national television in England.
The arrival of Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll made for waves across the globe, as Reds fans were impressed with Fenway Sports Group's declaration of intent to bring the club out of the abyss.
Suarez scored on his debut and Carroll debuted against Manchester United, when the Reds thrashed them 3-1. Torres has failed to impress since arriving at Stamford Bridge. Looks like it wasn't too bad of a piece of business to let the old fellow go for £50 million.
Now that the Reds have a pair of strikers for the long term future, the rest of the squad needs addressing if they want to compete with the big boys in 2011-2012. With that in mind, here is a list of six youngsters who could bolster the club for the future.
Kevin Prince Boateng

Lets face it: Maxi Rodriguez and Joe Cole are both failing to make the grade as support for the attacking line. Dirk Kuyt is one of the hardest workers in the league, but he just doesn't have the final finishing touch he had as a young striker in the Dutch Eredivisie.
Chock that up to years of being deployed on the right under Rafael Benitez. Nonetheless, the hard-nosed Dutchman is still a key force in the Reds lineup as opposed to the other two.
First up in the rumors is young journeyman attacker Kevin Prince Boateng of AC Milan. At 23 years of age, he is right in the thick of the want list for FSG. The German-born Ghana international has already acquired loads of experience in three of Europe's top leagues.
Coming through the ranks of Hertha Berlin and then moving to Tottenham Hotspur, his time at Spurs saw him spend his second season on loan back in Germany at Borussia Dortmund, before moving to Portsmouth until their relegation and was then sold to AC Milan.
Such time has allowed him to garner quite an international dose of footballing for his age and would likely aid him should he move to Anfield for the reported possible fee of £10 million during the summer. However, the deal could be left wanting, because Genoa and AC Milan co-own the player, and Genoa are reportedly the only side interested in the sale.
Ashley Young

Aston Villa's Ashley Young is out of contract in the summer, and his refusal to commit long term to the Villan's with a new contract suggests that they more than likely should have cashed in before the player leaves in the summer for nothing.
The Reds were key on him as a target throughout the transfer window, but nothing materialized, as Luis Suarez was the main prize for Liverpool at the time.
With Dalglish instilled as the permanent boss, he will be looking to add width with a young attacker who already has Premiership experience.
Simon Kjaer

Young Danish center half Simon Kjaer is a prime target for the Reds. His chance to link up with fellow Danish nationals Christian Poulsen and Daniel Agger hopes to be a selling point for the Reds.
Liverpool hope to prize him away from fellow suitors Tottenham, who also lodged a failed bid to take the defender to England from Germany's VfL Wolfsburg during the January window.
A linkup with Agger could add some flair to one of England's most attacking back lines, if you were consider having Agger and Kjaer in the middle with Martin Kelly and Glen Johnson on the wings.
Santiago Cazorla

Villareal attacker Santiago Cazorla, 26, is believed to be a prime candidate for Liverpool in the summer. With David N'Gog at the right age for a loan move to secure first team action for the next two seasons possibly, much like Chelsea's Daniel Sturridge, having Cazorla to call upon behind Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez would be a welcomed addition.
Cazorla is also a skilled wide player, and his arrival could mark the departure of Maxi Rodriguez. Having missed a sitter at Stamford Bridge, he did not do anything to endear himself to his new owners, as his strike could have truly put a stamp on the match early on for the Reds.
Liverpool will most likely be fighting with Arsenal for the services of Cazorla, as the Gunners look to find another attacker in the wide areas as a replacement for the soon-to-be-departed Andrei Arshavin.
Sergio Canales

Another youngster on the radar for the Reds has already turned down a move to Merseyside this summer. The 19-year old Real Madrid signing Sergio Canales has made four appearances for Los Blanco's this season.
A product of Racing Santander's youth development program, Canales earned 32 appearances for the La Liga first team and 28 for second tier Racing B, scoring a total of 10 goals.
As one of Spain's up and coming U-21 national team players, it will be interesting to see if the Reds can pry him away from Madrid and Jose Mourinho.
Christian Eriksen

The Reds have been eying up a £10 million offer to take Danish international midfielder Christian Eriksen to Anfield from Dutch side Ajax.
The Dane was the youngest player to feature at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa at only 18 and has 10 caps for his county. This season, he has made 30 appearances for the Ajax first team, scoring twice for the Dutch giants this campaign.
It is thought that Ajax manager Frank de Boor is likely to let Eriksen leave the club, than perhaps allowing the departure of any of his other current stars, such as Gregory van der Wiel, while still being able to help his club balance their books.
Eriksen has already been reported in the press saying he would turn down a move to Liverpool, but it is yet to be seen if an offer is made.
