FA to British Government: Stay Away From Our Football
Hugh Robertson (who is the Sports Minister in the Cameron Government) recently described English football as "the worst governed sport" in his country.
The declaration comes as a result of many problems that have affected English football since the 2010 FIFA World Cup. It also comes at a time when England was denied the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The response from the FA (Football Association) was swift with a warning about government intervention in football and the FIFA Constitution.

FIFA applies sanctions including expulsion from the game and the association if there is evidence of direct government intervention in a club.
FIFA has not been afraid to apply the rules against Nigeria and France after the 2010 FIFA World Cup. It must be remembered that Nigeria was briefly expelled when its government suspended the governing football body of its country and prohibited future tournaments.
France just simply received a warning and it appears that both countries have learned their lessons.
I have some advice for the British Government and any politicians in the world concerning football (as well as other sports) and politics. Football (as well as other sports) and politics are diametrically opposed.
When government mixes with sports, it does little to promote unity and does a lot to damage a team, with regulations approved by people who probably do not like sports.
The attempts of the British government or any other to interfere in their national football teams will be met with the firm hand of FIFA expelling the club.
The losers will be the players and the club supporters who could use their frustration to vote the same politicians out of office.
The FA (as well as other international football leagues and clubs) should be allowed to govern themselves since they are the ones who know the rules of the game.
