Thierry Henry Returns to Arsenal During the MLS Offseason
Thierry Henry has just returned to Arsenal in order to train during the MLS (Major League Soccer) offseason.
The purpose of his return to Arsenal is to train for the 2011 MLS season, which begins in March.
The return of the striker, who scored 226 goals within 370 matches while at Arsenal from 1999 to 2007, was the cause of celebration within the area of northern London (where Arsenal is located).
The Gunners have not forgotten that Henry was instrumental in the team winning two FA Cups and two Premier League titles during his period with them.
It was also during this period that coach Arsene Wenger helped transform Henry from a winger to a striker.
Thierry Henry played for Juventus, Arsenal and FC Barcelona before signing with the New York Red Bulls (which is part of the MLS).
During his period with the Red Bulls, Henry helped New York reach the MLS Playoffs. Unfortunately, the team lost to the San Jose Earthquakes.
He also played for France and participated in the 1998 World Cup and the 2000 European Championships for his country.
Henry has 123 caps and 51 goals to his international record while playing for France. He retired from the French national football team after the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
His period with France was marred by a controversial handball in the playoff against the Republic of Ireland.
While Henry will return only temporarily to Arsenal, at least the supporters of the team can relive the glory days of his era.
