Latest Players linked with moves to/from Liverpool FC:

The People claim Liverpool are set to raid Anderlecht for Belgian striker sensation Romelu Lukaku. Rated at around ยฃ20 million, Lukaku has featured prominently in rumour-filled articles over the past 12 months as his stock increases with each goal he blasts. The 17-year-old scored 15 times last season and has already netted 10 in 18 starts in this season's Jupiler league. Lukaku has already been linked with some of Europe's biggest names such as Real Madrid and Juventus.

In addition, the same paper also has Valencia right-sided forward Pablo Hernandezย on Damien Comolli's wanted list, who reportedly says he will leave Los Che if he is not given a regular amount of game time by his boss Unai Emery. Pablo is rated at ยฃ15 million.

Next up is a proposed move to Germany for Ryan Babel, who the Daily Mail claim is wanted by Hoffenheim, despite the Bundesliga outfit losing their coach Ralf Rangnickโ€”himself linked with the Liverpool postโ€”only a week or two ago. Babel is rumoured to be a replacement for want-away forward Demba Ba, though recent reports indicate the African forward will not be leaving in this transfer window.

Caughtoffside.com lead with a ยฃ28 million triple swoop for Liverpool. Apparently Kenny Dalglish must have been up all night following his appointment as Liverpool boss, as the website claims he and Damien Comolli have agreed on a list of Stoke City centre backย Ryan Shawcross, Benfica wing backย Fabio Coentrao and FC Utrecht strikerย Ricky van Wolfswinkelย to salvage the Reds' Premier League season.

Football365.com was amongst several media outlets who picked up a story on Steven Gerrardย being a ยฃ20 million transfer target for Real Madrid. The Reds captain, sent off today against Manchester United, is supposedly an easy target as Liverpool struggle to assert any long-term strategic plan in terms of on-the-pitch transfers.

Luis Suarezย of Ajax and Uruguay is the big name on Liverpool's list according toย givemefootball.com, who say that the Reds are ready to offer in excess of โ‚ฌ20 million to land the forwardโ€”though they may face stiff competition from Tottenham, with Harry Redknapp a known admirer.

Metro have rumours surfaced that ex-Reds boss Roy Hodgson was looking at Wayne Routledgeย of Newcastle with a view to an ยฃ8 million moveโ€”hopefully now that Hodgson has left, that one will disappear quietly.

The same media source also stated that Glen Johnson, current right back of Liverpool, has reconsidered his future and is happy to stay at the club under Kenny Dalglish, having been linked with a move to Spain in January after a "falling out" with Roy Hodgson.

Givemefootball.com also have Ryan Shawcrossย as the name heading Kenny Dalglish's "wanted" listโ€”even though it is doubtful the newly-arrived Scot has had time to so much as draw one up yet. GMF go with an ยฃ8 million price tag for the Stoke centre back.

Finally, sport.co.uk also runs the Romelu Lukakuย story, also claiming a ยฃ20 million fee would be enough to prise the teen superstar from the Belgian club Anderlecht.

Well, easily the biggest news of the transfer window to date, especially as far as Liverpool are concerned, is the removal of Roy Hodgson as boss (as correctly predicted by 99 percent of the football-watching public) and the introduction until the end of the season of Kenny Dalglish. So the papers and websites who linked us with Coyle, Rangnick, Villas-Boas, Klopp, Deschamps and Rijkaardโ€”sorry but your ill-informed rumours have been proven baseless and false!

The Telegraph's Rory Smith was one of the first to break the news about Dalglish being the man FSG wanted to appoint.

The rumours in today's list would total a spending spree in excess of ยฃ85 million were they all to sign. More evidence of the thoughtlessness of rumour spreading!

Total players linked with moves to Liverpool: 26 (five new ones)

Total players linked to be sold: Eight (one new one)

Total potential new managers: Seven (Kenny Dalglish appointed)
