Inter Milan-AS Roma: Penalty Shootout Seals Super Cup Victory For Jose Mourinho

Inter Milan have gained revenge for last year's Italian Super Cup defeat against AS Roma, as they came out victorious in the 2008 version through a nerve racking penalty shootout.

New signing Sulley Muntari scored his first goal for the Nerrazzuri after 19 minutes of play.

Roma's response came just at the hour mark when Daniele De Rossi unleashed a long-range drive to level the score.

Inter restored their lead in the 83rd minute as Mario Balotelli was sent clear on goal and wisely chipped Doni for the second.

But the visitors fought back to earn another equalizer through Mirko Vucinic, who headed in a precise corner in the dying seconds.

The score remained level in extra-time and the game went to penalties.

Juan's spot kick was saved by Julio Cesar, while captain Francesco Totti, who made his comeback from a long-term injury, was denied by the bar.

Inter skipper Javier Zanetti made no mistake though, scoring the decisive penalty to hand his team the trophy.

Congratulazioni Inter!
