Luis Felipe Scolari's No Chelsea Saviour

Andrew McNairAug 12, 2008

Luis Felipe Scolari wants to win it all at Chelsea this season and he'll do it playing beautiful football.

That's what he says and the fans agree.

"We're on for the quadruple," the Chelsea fans say.

Well I had my fair share of quadruple talk last year and it ended with a double for Glasgow Rangers as well as a double dose of disappointment. If Chelsea fans really think they are on for such a prize with Big Phil at the helm, then it could be an upsetting season for them.

Brazilian Scolari has had 19 jobs in 25 years so what does that mean for Chelsea?

One-point-three years, about 15 months and rest assured if he did win the English Premier League and UEFA Champions League this season then he'd probably say thanks very much and good bye.

Sir Alex has been at Manchester United for nearly 25 years!

He just doesn't strike me as being the stability that Chelsea clearly need.

The Brazilian did spend the last 5 years in charge of Portugal, however, and won the World Cup with Brazil before that, so there is no doubting his pedigree.

If he can still cope with the day-to-day management of one of the most demanding football sides on the planet that is.

His only experience in Europe is that of the international game with Portugal. Scolari has clearly dominated South American football in his time as well as the international game, although Portugal never really scaled the dizzy heights.

Therefore, why is everyone so confident that he'll do so well?

Not only that, but do it playing great football.

Jose Mourinho knew Europe and England inside out but he could only manage domestic success and as many have said, it wasn't pretty.

Rafa Benitez is a European genius but it's taken him four years to get to grips with England!

I'm just not sure and as a result have Chelsea third in my season predictions.

Big Phil is one of the biggest names in football management but that means nothing if results don't go your way. Or if Roman Abramovich isn't happy with the teams style.

Maybe I'm being over critical or maybe I'm just being plain negative but as I said before.

I'm just not sure.
