Manchester United Have High Hopes From The New Kids On The Block!
There's a reason why Manchester United are one of the only two teams who haven't made new additions to their squad and this is despite United being crowned Champions of England and Kings of Europe.
Last summer, The Red Devils spent big money, luring four new players to the squad, Nani, Anderson and Carlos Tevez were all meant to be long term buys.
However, Why aren't United out there like Liverpool or Chelsea trying to sign the big players?
Is is because they don't want to retain the silverware? I doubt it!
Manchester United still have a reasonably big squad, Ronaldo's injury means Park Ji Sung, Owen Hargreaves, Nani, Darren Fletcher and Chris Eagles will be fighting it out to replace him.
Talk about versatility!
Manchester United have been trying to get Dimitar Berbatov to Old Trafford but now it appears Spurs have been successful in frustrating United by overvaluing him.
Where do United really need a backup?
They have three goalkeepers, all of whom any team wouldn't mind having (Van der Sar, Kusczak and Foster) and already have Tom Heaton waiting in the wings (who's currently on loan).
The defenders don't really look a problem with Gary Neville's recovery, Danny Simpson and Wes Brown would also want to fight it out for the right back position.
Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic have been a rock at the heart of United's defense for two seasons, If one of them gets injured, John O'Shea, Mikeal Silvestre (if he stays), Wes Brown and now even the likes of Craig Cathart and Jonny Evans would be looking for a place up for grabs.
Let's not forget Patrice Evra and the Silva twins.
The midfield still has old veterans including Giggs and Scholes but Carrick, Hargreaves, Fletcher, Anderson and now the possible addition of players like Rodrigo Possebon and Tom Cleverley means United never really have a lack of options.
Lee Martin and Frazier Campbell alongside Chris Eagles portay United's bright future even if they don't dip into the transfer market any time soon.
Carlos Tevez, Wayne Rooney, Frazier Campbell, Manucho and maybe even Saha if he doesn't leave but there's always a possibility of bringing in a new striker.
Sir Alex Ferguson has high hopes from these "new kids on the block" who have been knocking on the door for a first team place in recent times which is a "fair-enough" reason for why United don't need to and won't go on a spending spree.
Sir Alex Ferguson has words of praise for each of his upcoming youngsters.
Frazier Campbell
"Campbell was instrumental in bringing Hull up, he's one for the future."
Lee Martin
"Lee Martin has been unfortunate with injuries, but he showed what he can do by setting up the first goal [against the Kaizer Chiefs], he has potential."
Jonny Evans
"Jonny Evans had a good spell at Sunderland and was instrumental in them staying up, he should be staying."
Chris Eagles
"His potential is well known, he's played for the first team off and on."
Craig Cathart
"Cathcart is looking much stronger and the intention is to put him out on loan this season."
Rodrigo Possebon
"Possebon will stay as he has potential for first team football, he's remarkable."
Tom Cleverley
"Cleverley is just a young lad and has time on his side, all the young players have good potential."
