This World Cup, predicting isn’t getting any easier.
With pre-tournament favourites Spain rolling over to the Swiss, many hopes were pinned on the French managing to convert a pretty poor first performance into a match-winning one against Mexico.
What wasn’t accounted for was the extent of this France side’s ill feeling towards Raymond Domenech.
With so many good players in the team, the limpness of the display in Mexico came as quite a surprise to the viewing masses and our predictors.
Not one of our competitors saw a victory for Mexico in what proved to be yet another difficult day in the Predictions Challenge. Out of the 12 predictions, nine were completely wrong.
In fact, the only match that saw any points returns was Argentina’s demolition job on South Korea, a game which might go some way to lowering the bookies’ odds on Maradona’s side as tournament winners.
Next up we have England vs. Algeria, Germany vs. Serbia and Slovenia vs. USA. Will any prediction-smashing shocks happen tomorrow? For Robert Green, we can only hope not.
