Pittsburgh Steelers Are Still Alive In Hunt For Playoffs
Then, last week, I wrote another article about why the Steelers season was over, and how they were playing to ruin seasons for other teams.
So, here we sit, with two weeks left to play in the regular season, and the stars have aligned.
And a last second touchdown lead the Pittsburgh Steelers to a victory over the Green Bay Packers and improving their record to 7-7.
That means that two teams are currently at 8-6, while another six teams are at 7-7. All eight teams are alive for a playoff push. So how will it unfold?
Miami Dolphins - Houston / Pittsburgh
Houston is not only able to finish the season with their first winning record in their team history, while the Week 17 game against the Steelers could determine if either of these teams will make the playoffs.
San Diego is playing to keep the two seed in the AFC, so that is going to be an incredible game, while the game at Seattle is never easy playing against the 12th man.
New England is going to need the win this week to lock up the AFC East, while the game at Cleveland would normally be an easy one, even though they are on a two-game winning streak, and it will probably be pretty cold when they play.
New York Jets - @ Indianapolis / Cincinnati
The toughest schedule of the teams fighting for the playoffs. The Colts are undefeated, while the Bengals are fighting for playoff seeding.
Houston Texans - @ Miami / New England
IF Houston is going to have their best record in franchise history, they have their work cut out for them. Playing at Miami is hard enough, but finishing the season in New England, who is going to be fighting for playoff seeding tends to look like a tall task for the Texans.
Pittsburgh Steelers - Baltimore / @ Miami
Sunday's matchup between the Steelers and Ravens is going to be a slug fest. If the Steelers win, the Ravens will no longer be in control of their playoff destiny. If they lose, the Steelers season is over.
Philadelphia is a hard place to play, especially when they are needing the victory to stay leading the NFC East. Don't look at the Chiefs as a walk over, just yet.
Baltimore Ravens - @ Pittsburgh / Oakland
As I said above, the game against the Steelers and Ravens is going to be a slug fest, and the Raiders have defeated the Bengals, Steelers, and Broncos in the second half of the season.
At this point, Baltimore and Denver are in control of their destiny. Both the Ravens and Broncos travel to Pennsylvania this weekend, and that will go a long way to deciding who will be in the playoffs. If they can escape Pennsylvania with wins, the playoff picture will clear up a little bit. If they both lose, then anything can happen.
All I can say is that the last two weeks of the regular season are going to be as exciting as the rest of the playoffs.
