Real Madrid grabbed a late equaliser in El Clasico, as Sergio Ramos' header earned a 1-1 draw at Barcelona in La Liga.

The Los Blancos captain silenced the Camp Nou contingent as he helped Madrid extend their unbeaten start to the league campaign.

The match was a tepid affair compared to previous editions between Spain's mighty clubs, with the drama reserved for the 90th minute.

Luis Suarez wasted a plethora of chances to claim victory in the second half, but Real proved their endeavour to steal a result.

Granada produced a huge shock as they defeated high-flying Sevilla 2-1 at the Estadio Los Carmenes.

The victory enabled the Andalusia club to climb off the bottom of the table, posting their first league win of the season.

There were two goalless matches on Saturday, as Atletico Madrid drew against Espanyol at the Vicente Calderon Stadium, and with Leganes and Villarreal unable to be divided.

Barcelona fans had their heads in their hands in the final seconds of El Clasico, witnessing a Real smash and grab on Saturday.

In a dull affair in Catalonia, Barca spurned opportunities to put distance between themselves and their bitter rivals, but Lionel Messi and his team-mates couldn't finish the job at hand.

ESPN's Dermot Corrigan was mightily unimpressed by what he saw in the opening gambit:

A goalless first half was finally broken by a strike on 53 minutes by Suarez. The Uruguayan hitman connected with a free-kick by Neymar, and the striker watched his header hit the back of the net.

Up until that point, Real had shaded the match, but Barca were back in control after feeding off the adrenaline from the crowd.

However, home fans were sorely disappointed in the last minute as Ramos found the contact he needed to be his side's hero.

Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo failed to exert their superiority on the game, and the contest suffered as a consequence.

Granada scored the most unlikely win of the season so far, defeating third-placed Sevilla in a 2-1 victory.

Manchester United loan starlet Andreas Pereira opened the scoring after 27 minutes, and David Lomban doubled the lead shortly before the hour mark.

Wissam Ben Yedder grabbed a consolation from a penalty deep into stoppage time, but the hosts were over the finish line in a needed success.

MADRID, SPAIN - DECEMBER 03: coach Enrique Sanchez Flores (L) of RCD Espanyol clashes hands with coach Diego Pablo Simeone (R) of Atletico de Madrid prior to start the La Liga match between Club Atletico de Madrid and RCD Espanyol at Vicente Calderon stad

Atletico's performance against Espanyol was disappointing, as they failed to score against one of La Liga's meanest defences on current form.

Antoine Griezmann looked out of form as he attempted to gain a winning goal, but Diego Simeone's team lacked ideas and invention.

The draw leaves Atleti in fourth place, unable to capitalise on Sevilla's slip at Granada and climb the table.

Simeone's unit will need to improve as the league rushes toward Christmas, but Atletico appear flat, with their title challenge nonexistent.
