Chelsea completed a superb comeback win over Southampton during Monday's 2016-17 Premier League 2 action, with Michy Batshuayi netting twice in the 3-2 triumph at Cobham.

The Saints twice took the lead, but Batshuayi hit back each time, and Marco van Ginkel scored a late winner. The result saw Chelsea climb into the top four of the Group 1 standings, but Sunderland pushed them back out during the late matches.

The Black Cats beat Manchester United 2-0, with Seb Larsson and Jan Kirchoff scoring.

Recap

As shared by the Blues' official Twitter account, Chelsea started a star-studded squad on Monday, featuring a lot of veteran talent and a handful of stars of the future:

Chelsea controlled the ball early, and Ola Aina threatened with a cross Saints had some trouble with. But out of nowhere, the visitors took the lead. Olufela Olomola cleverly fired a strike into the bottom corner, giving goalkeeper Eduardo Carvalho no chance.

The Blues answered almost immediately, with summer signing Batshuayi showing his incredible talent by using his strength before slotting home to tie things up. Here's a look at the goal, via Chelsea's official Twitter account:

Josh Sims restored the Southampton lead shortly after, however, as his shot took a major deflection off John Terry, wrong-footing Eduardo.

Van Ginkel couldn't guide a low cross into goal, and Batshuayi was furious when he was pushed over in the box and didn't receive a penalty. Unsurprisingly, Chelsea's official Twitter account didn't hesitate:

Dominic Solanke tested goalkeeper Harry Lewis with a powerful header, and Kurt Zouma fired the final chance of the half wide.

Solanke went close to equalising early in the second half, firing a shot off the upright after a solid combination inside the box. Here's a look at the chance:

Zouma, Van Ginkel and Cesc Fabregas all peppered the goal with shots and headers, as the Blues dominated after the break. But somehow, Lewis wouldn't be beaten. Saints even turned a header off the line at one point to the disbelief of the Chelsea players.

Solanke should have made it 2-2 after a great cross from Fabregas, but he missed the goal entirely with his header.

Chelsea's late push was finally rewarded with minutes left to play, as Batshuayi bagged his second goal of the afternoon. The Belgian showed excellent vision to curl a shot beyond the reach of Lewis, with Fabregas picking up the assist.

And things got even better for the Blues, as Van Ginkel found a late winner with a stunning strike, momentarily firing Chelsea into the top four of the standings.

In Manchester, the Red Devils slumped to a disappointing loss against Sunderland, who dealt with the adverse weather conditions best. The Manchester region was hit by a major storm on Monday, and as shared by Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News, it had an obvious effect on the match:

Regan Poole almost gave the Red Devils the lead before Larsson struck with a deflected effort. United kept giving away the ball in midfield, and when Kirchoff made it 2-0 with an easy finish, the match was all but over.

The match between Wolves and Stoke City was postponed.
