Team News
City defender Vincent Kompany suffered yet another injury setback at the weekend, as he clashed heavily with goalkeeper Claudio Bravo and left the pitch against Crystal Palace with a head injury.

According to Sam Street of the Sun, it's unclear whether the Belgian defender will be fit to start on Wednesday. Per Goal's Jamie Smith, manager Pep Guardiola has said the situation will be treated with care, so there's a good chance he won't see the pitch. Neither will Yaya Toure, who isn't part of the Champions League squad.
For Gladbach, Julian Korb and Cristoph Kramer will be absent due to suspension, but the hosts have no injury worries, per Street.
Borussia expected XI: Yann Sommer, Nico Elvedi, Andreas Christensen, Jannik Vestergaard, Ibrahima Traore, Mahmoud Dahoud, Tobias Strobl, Oscar Wendt, Thorgan Hazard, Raffael, Lars Stindl.
City expected XI: Willy Caballero, Pablo Zabaleta, John Stones, Nicolas Otamendi, Aleksandar Kolarov, Fernandinho, Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan, David Silva, Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero.
Preview
Across all competitions, Monchengladbach have won just one of their last six contests, and the hosts carry dreadful form into Wednesday's must-win match. City will fancy their chances of progressing with a date with Celtic ahead on the final matchday, but in all likelihood, Guardiola will prioritise a ticket to the next round now, on his return to Germany.

The Citizens were far from perfect in their win over Crystal Palace on Saturday, and the Eagles were particularly successful in midfield, winning the ball back in a hurry. From there, they did a fine job working the ball out wide and threatening with crosses.
The absence of Kramer means Monchengladbach will be shorthanded in midfield, and even more pressure will fall on young starlet Mahmoud Dahoud. The 20-year-old will have the eyes of the world on him against City, with transfer speculation surrounding the talented midfielder a constant.
Bleacher Report's Lars Pollmann is a fan, and he urged Borussia Dortmund to launch an offer in January:
"Dahoud would give the Black and Yellows perhaps the best chance to develop the next world-class midfielder themselves. Crucially, the Germany under-21 international knows both the language and the league, which should make for a swift integration into the squad.
Signing him in January would be shrewd, even though he is cup-tied in the Champions League and can reportedly leave Gladbach in the summer with a release clause valued at a mere €10 million, per Sport Bild (link in German).
"
If the youngster plays―which is likely, with Kramer sidelined―he'll be under enough pressure as it is, going up against the likes of Ilkay Gundogan and Fernandinho. Add to that the pressure of the spotlights and scouts in attendance, and Dahoud faces an enormous test.
Defensively, Monchengladbach face a huge challenge against Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero, who embarrassed the Germans in the first leg. If Dahoud can't shield Andreas Christensen and his defensive partners, they could be in for another long night.
Final prediction: Monchengladbach 1-2 City
