City made easy work of their Group C opponents, as they beat Monchengladbach in their opening fixture in the UEFA Youth League.

The Sky Blues found themselves two goals up after only 10 minutes, as a brace from 17-year old Lukas Nmecha grabbed control of the match.

The Bundesliga outfit hung on until half-time, but it was 3-0 by the hour mark, as Monchengladbach's Mika Hanraths put the ball into his own net.

The Foals scored a consolation through midfield talent Milo Yosef after 75 minutes, but City forced a fourth goal as Jadon Sancho added his name to the scoresheet.

It was an excellent start by City to their European endeavours, beating the established youth outfit from Germany.

Meanwhile, Barca faced a stern test from their Scottish opposition, beating Celtic 2-1 in Spain.

Carles Perez opened the scoring for the Camp Nou giants after only three minutes, and Swiss forward Jeremy Guillemenot doubled the lead after 64 minutes.

A strike by Jack Aitchison 18 minutes from time gave the Catalans food for thought, but the Glasgow club couldn't score the equaliser they craved.

Barca remain level with the Sky Blues after the first match, and both teams will be favoured to progress from the group stages.

PSG could not find a way through Arsenal's defence, leading to a goalless draw in France. Both sides shared the points, as Basel claimed the lead in Group A. The Swiss team defeated Ludogorets, winning 1-0.

It was a disappointing debut for Leicester, who lost their opening UEFA Youth League game 2-1 to Brugge.

Two goals in the first half by Dennis van Vaerenbergh gave the hosts the lead, but the Foxes hit back through Admiral Muskwe on the stroke of half-time.

The Premier League champions battled late into the game for a second goal, but Brugge held on for the three points in Group G.
