Recap
Fernando Torres continued his superb scoring form by opening the scoring for Atletico just minutes into their match against Levante. Koke played a perfectly weighted pass in behind the defence, and El Nino patiently waited for goalkeeper Diego Marino to get low before producing a fine chip.
Per ESPN FC’s Dermot Corrigan, the goal was his 10th league of the season, a mark he hadn’t hit in some time:
However, the visitors made the mistake of easing off ever so slightly instead of trying to find a second. The decision proved costly, as Victor Casadesus powered home a header to level things up just after the half-hour mark. As shared by Sky Sports Statto, it put an end to a spectacular unbeaten run for Jan Oblak:
The second half played out in a similar fashion, as Atletico just couldn't break down Levante's defence. They threw more and more men forward searching for a winner, but on-loan striker Giuseppe Rossi broke Atleti's hearts by grabbing the winner just before the final whistle.
Here's a look at the goal that ended Atletico's title challenge, per BeIN Sports USA:
Per Corrigan, a trip to Levante is becoming the stuff of nightmares for Atletico:
After the match, manager Diego Simeone refused to blame the exhausting UEFA Champions League semi-final match against Bayern Munich Atletico played in midweek, and stated he was proud of his team, per AS (h/t Football Espana):
"[The semi-final] is no excuse. We’re finishing a fantastic, huge season and we’re one game from competing with Real Madrid and Barcelona. That’s what makes me happy because we were 10 behind. We lacked a little bit, obviously. I have the pain of not being involved on the last day, but I’m filled with joy to have been fighting until the penultimate round.
I told the players I’m proud of what we’ve done, there’s nothing better than the reality of the moment to take strength. Now it’s necessary to finish second, if not, then third. Do I have a preference for who wins the title? No.
"
Barcelona had it easy against Espanyol, as Lionel Messi gave the hosts an early lead. Suarez scored early in the second half and doubled his tally shortly after with a goal that broke Espanyol's resolve. Rafinha and Neymar added to the score with easy tap-ins.

The Catalans could have won the title this weekend, but Valencia missed a host of chances and came up short against Real Madrid, who hung on for a 3-2 win. Ronaldo scored twice, and Karim Benzema added a goal as well, although the France international should have been called back for offside.
While Atletico's loss is good news for Real and Barcelona, little has changed for the Blaugrana. They still have to beat Granada on the final matchday to be sure of the title, while Real visit Deportivo La Coruna, who just beat Villarreal 2-0.
