Champions League 2016: Semi-Final Leg 1 Live Stream, TV Schedule, Predictions

Tom SunderlandApr 25, 2016

Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid will do their utmost to set up an all Spanish Champions League final this season as they take on Manchester City and Bayern Munich, respectively, in the semi-finals of this season's tournament.

Manchester City are making their maiden appearance in the competition's last four, and they play host to Los Blancos in Tuesday's first leg, while Atletico welcome Bayern to the Vicente Calderon on Wednesday.

Los Rojiblancos dropped to defeat against their local rivals in the 2014 final, but the threat of Pep Guardiola's Bayern side may prevent them from clinching their chance at redemption in Milan next month.

Atletico Madrid Enjoy Home Comforts

Travelling to the Vicente Calderon is a challenge no team in Europe wants at present, considering Atletico Madrid have lost on home turf just three times across all competitions this season.

Manager Diego Simeone's side have now failed to concede in their last four games, the most recent of which was a 1-0 victory over Malaga on Saturday. BBC Sport's Andy West outlined the threat Bayern are coming up against:

Der FCB pose no small threat, however, and they defeated Hertha Berlin 2-0 on Saturday to move within one win of a fourth consecutive Bundesliga title, but Atleti will be a different task altogether.

Comprised in Atletico's recent five-win streak is a 2-0 victory over Barcelona, and it's Los Rojiblancos' ability to isolate their opponents' key figures that aids their hot defensive streak, illustrated by Bet365:

Atletico are level on points with reigning European champions Barcelona in La Liga, and now they're hoping to take their success to the continental stage in the hopes of making a second final in three seasons.

Prediction: Atletico Madrid 1-0 Bayern Munich

Real Madrid travel to the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday hoping to end Manchester City's historic run in the Champions League, but the Citizens have built up a promising head of steam coming into their semi-final.

City manager Manuel Pellegrini believes his side will be able to deal with Real talisman Cristiano Ronaldo, too, considering he's fared well against the Portugal international in the past, per Richard Jolly of the Daily Express:

"

We played against him four times when I was at Villarreal and he was at Manchester United and we drew every game 0-0, so my team mustn’t have defended too badly! Everything that he has done there is amazing. He’s a very complete player but I hope we are going to play well against him.

"

The Citizens have been fiercely tested in their first trip to the last four as well, having defeated Paris Saint-Germain 3-2 on aggregate, showing defensive holes in Paris before keeping a clean sheet in their 1-0 home-leg win.

The Premier League side can also take heart after discovering Ronaldo is a doubt for the first-leg tie after suffering a thigh strain in Saturday's 3-2 win over Rayo Vallecano, per the Champions League:

Pellegrini's men will hope home advantage gives them the means to hold off Los Blancos, and Yahoo's Andrew Gaffney highlighted how important it is Ronaldo features for the visitors if they expect to challenge:

Even without Ronaldo, Real can still do damage against a Manchester City team that's without injured captain Vincent Kompany but has managed to go without defeat in seven matches.

Real suffered a 2-0 defeat at Wolfsburg in the quarter-finals before turning the tie around at the Bernabeu, and City are likely to give the Spanish team more first-leg troubles in Manchester.

Prediction: Manchester City 2-2 Real Madrid
