5 Key Remaining Fixtures in Juventus' Season
As they look to repeat last season’s incredible success, the winning streak that is currently enjoyed by Juventus has dragged them back into title contention.
Currently standing at 14 successive victories, the Bianconeri have overhauled all but one of their rivals to once again take up the fight for the Scudetto.
Yet they are also battling for Coppa Italia and Champions League glory just as they did 12 months ago, with some important fixtures looming ahead in all three competitions. It will not be easy, with some truly testing opponents awaiting them on all fronts and the Turin giants will need to be at their very best.
What follows is a look at some key matches that remain for Juve in 2015/16, highlighting five that could come to truly define their campaign, and will certainly be vital if they are to lift silverware before the season ends.
Scudetto Head-to-Head with Napoli
1 of 5
The first big fixture for the Bianconeri comes this weekend, with head coach Massimiliano Allegri’s men welcoming Napoli to Juventus Stadium.
The home side will be looking not only to avenge their loss to the southern club back in September, but also to continue their push for a fifth-consecutive league title.
This clash presents their best opportunity to overcome Napoli, who have won their last eight Serie A fixtures thanks largely to striker Gonzalo Higuain.
The Argentinian scored a penalty last weekend to take his record to 24 goals in 24 league games, a remarkable streak that he will hope to continue against the Old Lady.
Champions League Clash with Bayern Munich
2 of 5
Just 10 days after that Scudetto showdown with Napoli, the next side to visit Turin are none other than Bayern Munich.
The Champions League last-16 clash looks to be an immensely difficult one for the Bianconeri, and it also sees them come face-to-face with former players Arturo Vidal and Kingsley Coman.
“We can also see a positive. If we were to go through with Bayern, you certainly couldn’t say we had an easier path, but the team would grow even more in terms of self-esteem,” Allegri told a press conference back in December as he looked ahead to a tough tie. “Then we’d become one of the favourites. That’s the truth.”
Second Leg of Coppa Italia Semi-Final vs. Inter Milan
3 of 5
Slightly simpler than their European commitments, Juventus will play the second leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final in between the two matches with Bayern Munich.
Holding a 3-0 advantage after demolishing Inter Milan in Turin, they will head to the San Siro Stadium full of confidence but need to ensure progress if they are to retain the trophy.
The Third Turin Derby of 2015/16
4 of 5
Not as high profile as the others games mentioned here, but Juventus will undoubtedly want to record another victory over Torino this term.
Having already beaten their cross-town rivals twice in 2015/16, they will be looking to make amends for last year’s loss at the Stadio Olimpico when they return there on March 20.
Juventus vs. Fiorentina in Serie A
5 of 5
Following that derby clash, arguably Juve’s most difficult league game comes against another bitter rival as they visit Fiorentina in late April.
With just three rounds of the season remaining after they take on La Viola, the reigning champions will certainly need to win against coach Paulo Sousa’s men at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
