Euro 2016 Groups: Twitter Reacts to Draw Results and Seedings

Gianni VerschuerenDec 12, 2015

The draw for UEFA Euro 2016 served up three groups that can vie for the title of “Group of Death,” headlined by Group E, consisting of Belgium, Italy, Sweden and Republic of Ireland.

Groups C and D aren't too far behind, however. World champions Germany will meet Poland, Ukraine and Northern Ireland in Group C, while European champions Spain, Czech Republic, Turkey and Croatia should also provide plenty of fireworks.

Here's a look at the full results of the draw:

Group E was always going to be the one teams were hoping to avoid, as it provides the most difficult path to the final, as explained by Martin Ziegler of the Press Association.

The draw certainly didn't help matters, pitting four very strong teams against each other.

Belgium and Italy will be favourites to advance as the top two teams, but Sweden and Ireland ranked among the best teams in Pot 3 and 4, respectively.

As Belgium's Jan Vertonghen put it:

David Swan of Football Italia also wasn't happy with the draw and the fact the Azzurri will be in Group E:

While most pundits will say Group E is the toughest of them all, Groups C and D also look likely to produce some shocks. Czech Republic, Turkey and Croatia all field world-class talent, and they'll all be gunning for defending champions Spain, who haven't been at their best since Euro 2012.

Youtuber ZwebackHD is excited:

Meanwhile, Northern Ireland and Ukraine both looked very dangerous during qualifiers, while Poland and Germany already went head-to-head, grabbing one win each.

Joe.co.uk doesn't like Northern Ireland's chances:

A meeting of teams from the British Isles seemed almost inevitable, and the draw served up perhaps the best encounter possible, with England and Wales drawn together in Group B.

The Welsh are in sensational form, while England were the only team to finish the qualifying stage with a perfect record.

Even football blogger Liam Canning, who hasn't enjoyed watching the Three Lions in some time, couldn't hide his excitement:

Groups A and F appear to be the most straightforward on paper. Hosts France will meet Romania, Albania and Switzerland and are expected to finish at the top of the standings. A new entry in their rivalry with Switzerland looks enticing, but overall, Les Bleus shouldn't be troubled too much.

Portugal will go up against Austria, Iceland and Hungary, which should be even less troublesome, per Bleacher Report UK:

Austria and Iceland both looked impressive during qualifiers, and Portugal haven't been at their best during major tournaments of late, but Group F still looks like it will be Portugal's to lose.
