Twitter Reacts to the Football League's Rebranding as the EFL

The Football League announced on Thursday that from the 2016/17 season onward, it will be known as the English Football League, or the EFL.

The rebrand featured a snazzy new logo and video to match, as well as a website post explaining in laborious detail every aspect of the name and logo change.

The change is credited to the need to "project a modern identity that not only resonates with our regular audience but is also easily recognisable to a broader audience of potential fans" and is compared with other "major, game-changing innovations such as three points for a win and the Play-Offs."

Most fans weren't too chuffed that there was a change in the first place. Some questioned whether the addition of one word was actually important:

Meanwhile, others were more concerned about potential confusion with other brands and images. Political ones, perhaps...

Maybe you might get it confused with your gas supplier:

Or, you know, cleaning products:

There was also the legitimate point that there are some members of the Football League not actually from England:

And then there was the question of cost:

To be fair, there were one or two in favour:

And some made their own suggestions for improvement:
