Tuesday Recap

Arsenal endured yet another night to forget in the Champions League as they sank to a second consecutive defeat in the competition.

The Gunners began poorly and found themselves a goal down after 33 minutes as Felipe Pardo tucked home a corner via Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's heel.

Theo Walcott equalised immediately for the hosts, but the deficit was restored before half-time when David Ospina attempted to catch a cross under the bar only to carry it over his own goal line.

The BBC's Dan Walker and Phil McNulty were among many baffled by not only his mistake, but that he replaced Petr Cech in the starting lineup:

Alexis Sanchez equalised in the second half, but Alfred Finnbogason grabbed the winner as Olympiakos capitalised on more slack defending to earn a deserved win.

Chelsea were similarly lacklustre in their match to round off a poor night for the Premier League sides.

Andre Andre swept in a rebound to open the scoring. Willian equalised from a sublime free-kick in the last kick of the first half, but Maicon headed home the decisive shortly after the restart.

Squawka Football highlighted the abysmal performance from Branislav Ivanovic, who was at fault for both goals:

It was almost a bad night for Barcelona as they nearly lost at home to Bayer Leverkusen.

The Bundesliga outfit led for much of the match, having been put ahead by Kyriakos Papadopoulos' header, but substitutes Sergi Roberto and Munir El Haddadi drove the Blaugrana to a late comeback.

Roberto turned in Munir's rebound to pull level, and 90 seconds later, the latter beat three defenders before laying off to Luis Suarez, who guided home a magnificent winner.

Elsewhere in Group E, a goal from Ihar Stasevich and a brace from Filip Mladenovic gave BATE a shock lead against Roma, and though the Italian side fought back through Gervinho and Vasilis Torosidis, the Giallorossi were condemned to a damaging defeat.

Goals from Andriy Yarmolenko and Junior Moraes earned Dynamo Kiev an away win at Maccabi Tel Aviv, while Sofiane Feghouli's wonder-strike proved decisive for Valencia in a close encounter with Lyon.

Thomas Matton equalised for Gent after Zenit Saint Petersburg's Artem Dzyuba put the Russians in front, but Oleg Shatov's delightful second-half dink sealed the win for Zenit.

In one of the most widely expected results, Bayern Munich dominated Dinamo Zagreb thanks once again to more heroics from Robert Lewandowski.

Mario Gotze and Douglas Costa impressed as each got on the scoresheet, but Lewandowski will again take the plaudits and dominate the headlines, as he bagged a memorable hat-trick.

Squawka Football highlighted his incredible form:

The German giants travel to the Emirates in their next European outing, where they will look to inflict another night of pain on the beleaguered Gunners.

Cech will almost certainly come in for that match, but unless Arsenal can improve dramatically all over the pitch, it's difficult to see any outcome beyond another comfortable win for Bayern.
