Monday Recap
Rayo Vallecano kept Getafe just close enough to the relegation zone on Monday, defeating them 2-0 behind goals from Miku and Manucho.
While Getafe remains five points clear of the relegation zone with two games remaining, a win would have guaranteed safety and a draw would have all but done so.
Sunday Recap

Sevilla lost crucial ground in their bid to secure Champions League football for next season, as they were held 1-1 by Celta Vigo at the Estadio de Balaidos on Sunday.
The Andalusians went ahead in this one thanks to an eighth-minute goal from Kevin Gameiro. But the visitors were unable to grab a second against a determined Celta outfit and paid the price when the hosts equalised courtesy of a second half penalty from Santi Mina.

As noted by Sid Lowe of the Guardian, with each team chasing respective European ambitions, a draw doesn’t really suit either:
After a thumping win over Fiorentina in the Europa League semi-final in midweek and Valencia dropping points yesterday, Sevilla should have been confident and had an excellent chance to put big pressure on Los Che with a win. But this result leaves them three points behind fourth spot with just two games to play.

The same goes for Celta, who are three points off seventh place Malaga. However, one bright spark for the hosts was the performance of Santi Mina, who, as noted by Bleacher Report’s Karl Matchett, took his penalty superbly:
Earlier in the day Fernando Torres was on hand to salvage a point for Ateltico Madrid at Levante, as the reigning champions fought back twice to draw 2-2.

David Barral’s first half goal was almost immediately wiped out by Guilherme Siqueira’s first ever goal for Atletico. After the break Kalu Uche restored the hosts’ advantage, before Torres rose highest to head home Koke’s corner 10 minutes from time.
As noted by WhoScored.com, the Spanish striker is in pretty decent form at the moment:
The point means Atletico are guaranteed a spot in the top four this season, while Levante moved clear of the bottom three. Lucas Alvarez’s side aren’t absolutely guaranteed in their top flight status, but with two games to go and a five point gap in situ, they have surely done enough.

Elsewhere on Sunday, there were wins for Villarreal and Malaga, as they beat Elche and Almeria respectively.
Malaga’s win moved them up to seventh place with a clutch of sides in hot pursuit, while Almeria are just a point clear of Deportivo la Coruna, who currently occupy 18th spot. The visitors scored either side of half time after an own goal from Jose Manuel Casado and a Javi Guerra strike; Thomas Teye Partey scored an equaliser for the hosts.
Villarreal were made to work hard against a resolute Elche side, but a 26th goal from Arsenal loanee Joel Campbell was enough for them to take all three points. They will finish in sixth place after a fine season under the tutelage of Marcelino.
Saturday Recap
Real Madrid were forced to come from two goals down on Saturday to salvage a 2-2 draw at home against Valencia, dropping points at a most critical juncture to surrender a four-point La Liga lead to Barcelona.
Javi Fuego and Paco Alcacer were both on target in the opening half at the Bernabeu, with the Daily Mail suggesting Barca could get their celebrations ready had Los Blancos gone on to lose:
Seeing Diego Alves save his penalty also didn't help Cristiano Ronaldo's mood, according to Goal's Ben Hayward, with all Real's luck seemingly drifting away:
Carlo Ancelotti must have had some choice words at the break, however, as Los Merengues came out with a more fervent approach in the second period and had their first goal eventually fired in by Pepe after 56 minutes.
It seemed only natural that Valencia's grip might loosen after scoring so early on, and Isco ensured that was the case with his curling equaliser five minutes from time. Real Madrid TV presenter Rhiannon Jones confirmed the home fans were in far better voice following that return:
That was as far as the comeback could be pulled and although one point is better than none, Real Madrid will nevertheless view this as a missed opportunity.
And both teams may go home slightly disappointed after Los Che saw their two-goal lead reduced to nothing, albeit climbing within three points of Atletico Madrid in third.

Barcelona initially put themselves in La Liga's driving seat on Saturday thanks to a 2-0 win against Real Sociedad in the early kickoff to climb within touching distance of this season's crown.
Restoring a five-point lead over Real, Neymar and Pedro were on the scoresheet in a resounding Barca victory, with Squawka detailing just how the Blaugrana dominated their guests:
Having dealt with Bayern Munich so efficiently during their Champions League semi-final clash in midweek, this was a far less glamorous account of Barcelona's ability, but no less effective.
In fact, one might even find new attraction in the club's defensive stubbornness, as Barcastuff made sure to note the club broke a record by keeping yet another clean sheet against David Moyes' men:
"For the first time ever, Barcelona have won 7 consecutive games without conceding any goal #fcblive [via mrchip]

Later on Saturday, Athletic Bilbao dropped two points at the death against Deportivo La Coruna thanks to an extra-time equaliser from Alberto Lopo to salvage a point for the visitors.
Aritz Aduriz scored in the 14th minute and the Lions looked destined to move into seventh, but Villarreal may now seal a top-six finish on Sunday should they beat Elche.
Earlier in the day, Granada gave their push for survival major aid after beating bottom side Cordoba 2-0 to move back outside the bottom three, but still level on points with Eibar in 18th.
Cordoba finished with only nine men as Diego Mainz and Youssef El-Arabi provided the winning touches for Granada, the latter sealing back-to-back La Liga wins for the first time this La Liga season.
Friday recap
Sergio Garcia and Christian Stuani both found the net for Espanyol in their routine 2-0 win over Eibar on Friday, as the visitors leapfrogged a host of clubs to grab seventh place and are within five points of Villarreal.
The Catalans would qualify for the Europa League from that position, should Barcelona beat Athletic Bilbao in the final of the Copa Del Rey. Meanwhile, as shared by author Sid Lowe, Eibar's situation is turning more dire with every passing week:
Garcia was given far too much space by the Eibar defence in the first half and easily found the top corner from near the penalty spot, and when Stuani made it 2-0 after half-time, the match was as good as over.
The 28-year-old forward is quietly enjoying one of the best seasons of his career, per OptaJose:
The win takes Espanyol up to seventh place, but the likes of Villarreal, Malaga and Celta Vigo will still feature during the weekend. Eibar have now lost six matches in a row, their second major losing streak of the season.
Deportivo La Coruna could leap over the Basques with a win over Athletic, and with just two weeks left in the season, every point will be vital from this point forward.
Of course, no one knows exactly when those final two weeks will be played, as the Spanish football season is facing a suspension starting next week, via Yahoo's Kieran Canning. The president of La Liga, Angel Maria Villar, is not helping matters with comments like these, as reported by The Associated Press (per Fox Soccer):
Both sides have yet to give any indication they're willing to come to an agreement and have mainly resorted to calling each other out like Villar did. With every passing day, the chance that we will get to enjoy La Liga action come May 16 becomes less and less likely.
