The youngster was in Paraguay with the team when he jumped backward during a game—and ended up falling out of the window.
An employee at the hotel, Fabian Puente, said:
"I was laying tables in the restaurant when I saw this body hit the ground outside. I was completely shocked and ran outside to see what had happened. The kid was lying on the floor and was clearly in a lot of pain. Fortunately, apart from a couple of twisted ankles and a few cuts and bruises he was okay. He was in shock more than anything else. But it’s lucky he was on the first floor and not a higher one otherwise he could have died.
"
Conechny was celebrating his 17th birthday on the trip. While the pictures show that he suffered some injuries as a result of the fall, he can, as Puente said, consider himself fortunate that it was not more serious.
Conechny was part of the U17 side, which was playing in a South American-wide tournament in Paraguay at the time, but according to TYC Sports (in Spanish), he couldn't participate in the final match against Ecuador because of the injuries.
