Germany's Quick Start Against Brazil at 2014 World Cup Leaves Fans Crying

Kyle NewportJul 8, 2014

Brazil are playing without Neymar and Thiago Silva against Germany in the semifinals of the 2014 World Cup, so losing the match would be understandable. However, nobody saw Germany blowing out the host nation quite like this.

After Germany scored four goals in the first 26 minutes of the match, Brazil fans in the stadium began to realize that their team's tournament was all but over.

They weren't the only fans who couldn't believe what they were watching:

In the 29th minute, Germany added a goal to make it 5-0.

Germany had a 7-0 lead after 80 minutes, but Brazil fans did finally get something to cheer about when Oscar scored in the 90th minute.

Brazil's 7-1 loss was the worst ever by a host nation at the World Cup. Before this match, three goals had been the worst margin of defeat by a host nation.

Germany will face the winner of the Netherlands-Argentina in the 2014 World Cup final on Sunday.
