Inevitably some of the league's top scorers filled their boots on this weekend of high scores with a few stunning strikes among the mass of goals.
Read on for a fully updated list of the top marksmen as well as analysis of a few of those in the mix.
|Yaya Toure||Manchester City||16|
|Sergio Aguero||Manchester City||15|
|Wayne Rooney||Manchester United||13|
|Robin van Persie||Manchester United||11|
Luis Suarez, 28 goals
Yet again Luis Suarez made a huge contribution as Liverpool overcame Cardiff City 6-3 in Wales.
He bagged himself a hat-trick and is now on 28 goals for the season, nine goals ahead of second-placed Daniel Sturridge.
Even if he does not score another goal all season, he will likely claim the title of top scorer for the season, and he is at the top of the list as far as player of the season is concerned.
As if that wasn't enough, he tied a Liverpool club record on Saturday as well:
28 - Luis Suarez has scored 28 PL goals this season, equalling Robbie Fowler's club record in a single PL season (28 in 95-96). God.— OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) March 22, 2014
Liverpool's win kept them in the thick of the title race; they sit four points behind table-toppers Chelsea with a game in hand.
If the Uruguayan can continue his unbelievable season it would be a brave man who would bet against the Reds claiming the league title for the first time since 1990.
Yaya Toure, 16 goals
Suarez wasn't the only one to bag a treble on Saturday. Yaya Toure also claimed a hat-trick as Manchester City kept their title drive going with a 5-0 hammering of Fulham at the Etihad Stadium.
The Ivorian added to two penalties with an exquisite 30-yard curling strike to move onto 16 goals for the season and up to third in the list.
The talismanic midfielder has been a key component to City's title challenge this season.
With Sergio Aguero still on the sidelines and Alvaro Negredo stuck in a goal drought, his tally has been invaluable to Manuel Pellegrini's side.
City will hope that Toure is at his brilliant best when they travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on Tuesday as the Sky Blues look to make up the six-point gap to Chelsea in one of their three games in hand.
Wayne Rooney, 13 goals
Rooney's double in Manchester United's 2-0 win over West Ham at Upton Park on Saturday included a contender for goal of the season.
A David Beckham-esque lob over keeper Adrian from the halfway line on the volley was executed to perfection in front of the former United legend.

The 28-year-old added a tap-in to take his tally for the season to 13 and kept the Red Devils' momentum going ahead of the Tuesday's Manchester derby.
Rooney's continuing good form will be essential if United want to finish the season strongly, especially with Robin van Persie recently ruled out for 4-6 weeks, per BBC Sport.
