Burkina Faso vs. Ghana: AFCON Semifinal Live Score, Highlights, Recap
Africa Cup of Nations 2013 Semi Final
Burkina Faso vs Ghana (kickoff Wednesday 6.30 GMT, Mbombela Stadium, Nelspruit, South Africa)
EXTRA TIME SCORE: Ghana 1 (Wakaso p'12) Burkina Faso 1 (Bance '60)
With only four teams left in Africa's premier competition, all are aware of the magnitude of proceedings—Ghana have made it this far after topping their group, and then overcoming Cape Verde 2-0 in the first of the tournament's quarter finals. Burkina Faso have emerged as the tournament's surprise package, topping Group C ahead of Zambia and Nigeria, before holding their nerve to best Togo in extra time.
While Ghana enter this match as clear favourites, Burkina Faso will be imbued with confidence after their bold run to this stage. Despite the absence of their star player and the tournament's joint-top scorer Alain Traore due to injury, Jonathan Pitroipa has stepped up to take his place as the team's creative inspiration.
Wakaso Mubarak has been Ghana's star, weighing in with three crucial goals, however, the Black Stars lineup is riddled with talented players who could have a major impact on the big stage.
BREAKING TEAM NEWS:

Burkina Faso: Diakité; Panandétiguiri, B. Koné, Koulibaly, Koffi (H.Traore) ; D. Koné, Kaboré, Rouamba; Nakoulma, Pitroipa, Bancé
Burkina Faso advance to the Afcon final, their first ever. An incredible game, a rollercoaster - Aristide Bance, the man of a thousand chances, missed a hatful, but his crucial goal, and his audacious penalty have made the difference.
The Stallions also faced some incredible injustice - the referee appeared to give everything Ghana's way, including a dubious penalty for Ghana, a disallowed goal for Burkina, and an undeserved red card, after supposed simulation - another bad call.
Ghana will rue an opportunity missed, having never quite stepped out of first gear all competition.
The Burkinabe, on the other hand, will look forward to a date to savour with Nigeria on the 10th of February.
Badu misses the crucial penalty - another poor effort
BURKINA FASO WIN!!!

The tension is palpable here in Nelspruit as the teams prepare to greet fate...
PENALTIES IN NELSPRUIT
118- Christian Atsu nearly steals this one late on - a cross is fired in by Gyan, but the midfielder can't make enough contact...penalties here I think
A horrible decision, that scars the occasion, and potentially the final as well.
116- Oh dear, oh dear - calamity upon calamity - Pitroipa receives a second yellow for a supposed dive in the box, it looks like a stone-wall penalty to me - dreadful decision making by the referee
115- Koulibaly tests Dauda from just outside the area, it's Ghana who are under siege here.
111- Chip Head bursts through again, but fires right at Dauda - then has a second chance, a stunning opportunity, which he fires right at Asante on the line - that man has had a multitude of chances to win this.
107- Bance hurls another one over the bar, as Paul Put looks on in disbelief...
First period of extra time is over. Ghana will be thanking their lucky Black Stars it's still level.— SandalsForGoalposts (@Sandal4Goalpost) February 6, 2013
And we're off into the second period - 15 minutes away from providence or penalties...
Half time in extra time here - Burkina should be leading, but the Tunisian referee, who has been at the centre of most of the action this evening, disallowed their goal - how are Ghana clinging on? CC
104- Burkina get the ball in the net, it's 2-1 - but then the ref seems to blow for half time, or a foul at least! A second major injustice for Burkina.
102- Great opportunity for Bance - excellent upper body strength as he muscles the defence out of the way, fashions space for himself, and fires over...! Massive moment for Burkina...and they can't capitalise.
95- Afful advances forward and forces a smart save from Diakite - best we've seen from Ghana in a while
Extra Time kicks off here in Nelspruit as Burkina Faso and Ghana contest a semi final that looks like going right to the wire
