NBA Christmas Day 2011: Heat Dominate Mavericks and More Bold Predictions

Nicholas GossDec 23, 2011

The Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks highlight a full slate of NBA action on Christmas Day as Mark Cuban's team will raise their championship banner from the team's six-game NBA Finals series win over the Heat last year.

The celebration however, will be short-lived when the Heat begin to dominate the Mavericks and run them off their own court.

This is one bold prediction I have for the Christmas Day matchups, let's look at some more. Do you agree with these?

Kevin Durant scores 45 points vs. Magic

The Oklahoma City Thunder begin their quest to get back to the Western Conference Finals on Christmas versus the Orlando Magic, who are dealing with the distractions surrounding star center Dwight Howard's future.

Kevin Durant is the best player on a talented Thunder squad, and he will dominate the Magic on Sunday because Orlando has no one who can guard him for 48 minutes.

Durant has worked on his post game this summer, which he will use effectively against the Magic.

Durant will drop 45 points on the Magic en route to an easy Thunder win and a perfect start to a promising season for Scott Brooks' young OKC team.

The Clippers and Warriors will combine to score 250 points

The Los Angeles Clippers and Golden State Warriors both have great offenses and lack shutdown defenders, so what does that mean? It's the perfect storm for a scoring explosion that will make this matchup the most exciting to watch on the Christmas schedule.

"Lob City" makes its debut in real games that matter, and the whole basketball world cannot wait to see how Chris Paul and Blake Griffin will connect to score points this season.

The Clippers are going to be one of the most exciting teams to watch this season, and against the Warriors' lack of defense, this Christmas Day game will be insane.

Warriors guard Stephen Curry and Monta Ellis will score a lot of points themselves, and you can bet this game is going to over 200 combined points easily.

LeBron James' triple double will lead doubt-digit Heat rout of Mavericks

The Miami Heat will beat the defending champion Dallas Mavericks by no less than 10 points on Christmas and ruin Mark Cuban's title celebration.

The Heat are ready to shut up their critics and this game will be a great way to start that right away this season.

LeBron James will dominate the Mavericks because he will be looking to show he is a more complete player this season, one who won't fold against the best teams.

His fourth-quarter performances against the Mavericks in last year's finals were atrocious, and James will be determined as ever to start this season off better than last year ended.

Miami is on a mission this season, and Dallas is victim No. 1.
