Eagles vs. Giants: Even If Vick Plays, Giants Will Cruz to Victory over Philly

Pete SchauerNov 18, 2011

Does 110 yards and two touchdowns (including one over Nnamdi Asomugha) sound familiar?

That's what breakout wide receiver Victor Cruz did to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3, which culminated in a 29-16 road victory for the G-Men.

With The News Journal report surfacing that Michael Vick won't play on Sunday night, there is a strong possibility of offseason free agent Vince Young seeing the field.

Young has thrown one pass this season—an interception against the Washington Redskins—and played in just nine games for the Tennessee Titans in 2010.

Young's career as a QB has seen him throw more interceptions than touchdowns, while posting a 75.3 passer rating.

It's no secret that the self-anointed "Dream Team" has been struggling this season. While the Eagles' total offense ranks fifth in the league, Vick's 11 interceptions are tied for fourth-worst and his passer rating ranks in the lower half.

With Vick most likely out, it's business as usual for the Giants. An effective pass rush from a Giants defense, which leads the league in sacks, will undoubtedly hinder the performance of Young if he starts. The Giants also rank third in the league in forced fumbles with 12 and 10th in interceptions with 11.

With Ahmad Bradshaw out, I'm looking for Da'Rel Scott to get some carries, with Brandon Jacobs' brutal performance this season.

Eli Manning is having an MVP-caliber year, posting a 97.0 passer rating with 17 TDs and eight interceptions. What's more, he's doing it all season without the help of a running game.

Cruz and Hakeem Nicks each have 40 receptions, four touchdowns and over 600 receiving yards, while TE Jake Ballard is transforming into an offensive weapon and has caught 26 passes for 430 yards and three touchdowns.

The Giants have already proved they can throw the ball against Philadelphia's defense, with Manning throwing for 254 yards and four touchdowns in their Week 3 meeting. Meanwhile, the Eagles have proved they can't.

Vick and backup QB Mike Kafka combined for three interceptions, while Vick also fumbled the football three times before it was thought he broke his hand in the fourth quarter against New York.

It also appears that rookie Prince Amukamara will make his NFL debut this weekend, giving Young and the Eagles more to worry about.

When the Eagles lose this Sunday, the once high hopes for the Dream Team will come crashing down to reality.
