NFL Predictions Week 7: Indianapolis Colts and Teams Sure to Get Rocked on Road

Josh MartinOct 21, 2011

Winning on the road in the NFL is never an easy task, especially when your team stinks. These three squads have all proven to be pretty terrible in 2011 and will find life away from home in Week 7 that much more difficult as a result.

Indianapolis Colts

One of these weeks, Curtis Painter and the Colts will pull out a win, out of professional pride and a desire to keep the franchise from having to choose between Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck.

Unfortunately for football fans in Indianapolis, that will have to wait for at least one more week. The cruel irony of past success has once again landed the Colts on national TV, this time against the Saints on Sunday Night Football. New Orleans will have the double benefit of playing at home and harboring leftover anger and frustration from last week's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Look for Drew Brees to post a big day against Indy's D, regardless of how near or far Sean Payton may be from the sidelines.

I must admit, it was nice to see the Chiefs get their act together before their bye in Week 6. I, for one, prefer to see bad teams improve and level the playing field rather than stink it up all season.

The football gods would seem to be favoring Kansas City, with wins in each of its last two games, extra rest in its back pocket and a game against a Raiders team breaking in a new quarterback (Carson Palmer).

However, the game is in Oakland, and the Silver and Black don't exactly need whoever is under center to do much more than hand the ball off to Darren McFadden. He and the rest of the Raiders' ground game should be able to run roughshod over a Chiefs defense that allows nearly 120 yards rushing per game.

St. Louis Rams

Hey, Brandon Lloyd! If you thought things were bad in Denver, just wait until you arrive in St. Louis to join a Rams team that actually thought it had a chance to do some big things this season. An 0-5 start, behind a horrible offense and an even worse defense, was compounded by an ankle injury sustained by second-year quarterback Sam Bradford, who may miss Sunday's game in Dallas.

And while the Cowboys have been as inconsistent as any team in the NFL, at least they've won a few games this season. Look for Tony Romo to have a field day throwing the ball around to Dez Bryant, Miles Austin and Jason Witten, while rookie DeMarco Murray finds no shortage of running room against the league's worst rush defense.
