NFL Trade Rumors: 5 Teams That Could Use Brandon Lloyd Most
So with the trade deadline near, will the Denver Broncos end up getting rid of their All-Pro WR Brandon Lloyd?
For the sake of Broncos' fans everywhere, let's hope not.
However, if Denver does in fact trade away the stud WR, here are five teams that could use him to most.
Note: Only teams still realistically alive for the playoffs were used.
Washington Redskins (3-2)
1 of 5Washington may be 3-2, but they've dropped two of their last three games, and that third overall W came against the still winless St. Louis Rams.
That said, QB Rex Grossman came back to his old ways against the Eagles and threw four picks.
Not defending Grossman, but it doesn't help when your best WR is Santana Moss (last Pro Bowl was 2005).
Sure Moss is great, but the supporting cast isn't.
Therefore, the addition of Brandon Lloyd gives the Redskins two legit receiving targets, which will not only open up the ground game, but give TEs Fred Davis and Chris Cooley some more targets.
And even if John Beck is under center, it won't hurt to have two reliable WRs who can make your TEs and RBs that much more capable of productivity.
Plus, it would significantly help out their top 10 defense.
Tennessee Titans (3-2)
2 of 5When Kenny Britt went down, so did the Tennessee offense.
RB Chris Johnson isn't going to have one of his insane seasons, because missing all of training camp has proven to put a damper on his year.
But, adding Brandon Lloyd would be a huge boost to QB Matt Hasselbeck and the receiving core.
Not only would he give them an edge over the Houston Texans—until Andre Johnson gets back—but Lloyd is a solid replacement for Britt.
Then once Britt returns in 2012, this offense could be one of the best in the league.
Tennessee may also be the ideal place for Brandon, as Hasselbeck is a much more established QB than anyone Lloyd has played for.
Houston Texans (3-3)
3 of 5With their best player in WR Andre Johnson out, acquiring Brandon Lloyd would only make the Houston Texans that much more dangerous.
Other WRs in Kevin Walter and Jacoby Jones are decent, but that's only when Andre Johnson is healthy, otherwise they're average targets at best.
Lloyd on the other hand, can play well even without much help, but he would thrive in Houston.
First he and Johnson would derive attention from one another, thus allowing Walter, Jones and TE Owen Daniels to really get some numbers.
QB Matt Schaub would have such a threatening offense, that once you include RB Arian Foster, the Texans would appear to be even more unstoppable with a healthy Andre Johnson.
The Houston Texans are the last team that the AFC would want Brandon Lloyd to end up, because with a solid defense and the return of Johnson, adding Lloyd would put them on an "uncharted waters" type level.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-2)
4 of 5QB Josh Freeman got off to a slow start this season, but has since been playing better, as evidence by the W over New Orleans.
That said, none of his receiving targets are all that great, at least in comparison to Brandon Lloyd.
Preston Parker is the team's leading receiver—I'm sure you knew that was going to happen preseason—and only five TDs have occurred via aerial assault.
RB LeGarrette Blount is playing well, but if Tampa Bay wants to fend off Atlanta and New Orleans again, adding an established WR will most certainly suffice.
Now, although Lloyd has yet to score, he's really Denver's only legit target so it was expected that defenses would zero-in on him and force guys like Eric Decker to beat them with Eddie Royal out.
And yet, Lloyd still has more yards than anyone on Tampa.
Seattle Seahawks (2-3)
5 of 5Despite being just 2-3, the Seattle Seahawks are second place to the 5-1 San Francisco 49ers in the NFC West.
Now, the 49ers are up on Seattle with the current tie-breaker, but they still have to play in The Great Northwest where the 'Hawks are a much better team.
To that end, Seattle isn't out of the playoff hunt yet, because we've seen teams better than 5-1 fall from grace before (Denver fans wincing in pain... twice).
As for the Seahawks, only rookie WR Doug Baldwin poses as a immediate threat, while Sidney Rice is his trusty sidekick.
Ben Obomanu is decent, however the addition of Lloyd will not only make Seattle deep, but very talented.
And with their two QBs of Tarvaris Jackson and Charlie Whitehurst, having a talented receiving core is what's needed, because the defense is much better than advertised.
