NFL Power Rankings: Which Teams Are Turning Heads?

Chris TrapassoJun 4, 2018

Who would have thought?

The 2011 NFL season has been full of surprises so far, but three teams are really turning heads across the league.

Tennessee Titans

We've seen what the Baltimore Ravens did to the Pittsburgh Steelers and St. Louis Rams in Weeks 1 and 3 this season, but the Titans had no problem in Week 2, doubling up the Ravens 26-13.

Matt Hasselbeck has stolen the show from running back Chris Johnson and has made the Titans a dangerous passing team, throwing for 932 yards and completing an outstanding 69 percent of his passes.

Yes, Johnson has been pretty awful in the team's first three games, but Titans fans are happy with a 2-1 record and how the new aerial attack has led the way.

(Side note: Kenny Britt's season-ending injury is a major blow to the offense.)

Buffalo Bills

Many analysts slated the Bills at the bottom of the AFC East before the season began. Now they're sitting pretty at 3-0, atop their division and fresh off a thrilling victory over the New England Patriots.

Ryan Fitzpatrick is legitimizing himself as a franchise quarterback, and Fred Jackson is playing at a Pro Bowl level.

The defense hasn't been outstanding, but has made enough plays late to get off the field, allowing Fitzpatrick and company to go to work.

Detroit Lions

The expectations surrounding the Lions heading into the 2011 season were higher than ever before, but with the Packers and Bears in the division, it was going to be tough to contend.

At 3-0, the Lions are certainly a team no one wants to play because of their star-power on both sides of the football.

Matthew Stafford has stayed healthy and Calvin Johnson simply cannot be covered.

Jahvid Best, who was somewhat disappointing in his rookie campaign last year, is finally looking more comfortable within the offense.

Oakland Raiders

Darren McFadden is en route to a selection on the All-Pro team, and the speed that the Raiders have drafted over the years is finally paying off.

Jason Campbell is managing the games well, and the defensive line is causing fits for opposing offensive coordinators.

The secondary has been torched to a certain extent, but are playing well enough to keep their team in the game.
