Cowboys vs. Jets: TV Schedule, Live Streaming, Radio, Game Time and More
Generally speaking, the Sunday night football game is usually among the NFL's marquee matchups in a given week. That is certainly the case for Week 1 of the 2011 NFL season as the New York Jets are hosting the Dallas Cowboys.
After two consecutive season in which they lost in the AFC Championship Game, the Jets are looking to go one step further in 2011. Defense will be key for them again this season, as will the running game with running back Shonn Greene looking to rebound from a disappointing 2010 campaign.
The Cowboys underachieved severely last season and former head coach Wade Phillips paid the price. Jason Garrett will begin his first full season as Dallas' head man. Quarterback Tony Romo is back after a broken collarbone ended his 2010 season early and will look to lead the Cowboys back to the postseason.

What's at Stake?
While a Week 1 loss isn't necessarily debilitating to a team's playoff hopes, it definitely helps to start off on a positive note. With the Jets and perhaps the Cowboys looking like potential playoff teams, they'll both want to get off to a fast start.
In divisions as difficult as the AFC and NFC East, even a single loss can adversely affect a team's chances of winning the division crown. The New England Patriots hardly seem to lose a regular-season game anymore, so the Jets would love to start the season with a victory.
The Cowboys will be battling the likes of the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants in their division.
Due to Rex Ryan's demonstrative attitude, the Jets need a win to back up their big talk, while the Cowboys could benefit from a fast start after faltering out of the gates last season.
Cowboys' Injury Report
Questionable: TE Martellus Bennett (Ankle), DB Terence Newman (Groin), DL Marcus Spears (Groin), WR Dwayne Harris (Head)

Jets' Injury Report

Questionable: QB Mark Brunell (Calf, Finger)
Probable: CB Darrelle Revis (Hip)
What They're Saying
According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Jets' head coach Rex Ryan feels extra pressure with regards to the team's opener against Dallas due to it being played at home on the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.
"“I feel a – I don’t know, it’s different – like a responsibility,” Ryan said today. “Every week I have a responsibility to make sure our team’s prepared. But I don’t know. It just feels different to me. The significance of it, I think it’s stronger than any game I’ve ever felt. I feel more pressure on this game for whatever reason than any game I’ve ever coached it seems like.”
"
David Moore of the Dallas Morning News said that the Cowboys are preparing for their game against the Jets as if cornerback Terence Newman and tight end Martellus Bennett won't play despite both being listed as questionable.
"Neither absence should come as a surprise. Newman hasn't practiced since he strained his groin on Aug. 4. While he tweeted afterwards that he should be ready to play against the New York Jets, club officials were never that optimistic."
"His original timetable of five to six weeks always left his availability for the season opener in doubt."
"Today marks the start of the fifth week since Newman's injury.
Bennett, meanwhile, is dealing with a high ankle sprain and wasn't even cleared to run until Monday. The club's decision to keep Martin Rucker as a fourth tight end on the initial 53-man roster was a strong indication that Bennett wouldn't be ready.
"
Cowboys Player to Watch: WR Dez Bryant
After a rookie season in which he showed plenty of flashes of brilliance, Cowboys' receiver Dez Bryant seems like a break-out candidate in 2011. The Dallas offense should be an explosive unit this season, particularly the passing game.
Quarterback Tony Romo will have a myriad of weapons, including Bryant, Miles Austin and Jason Witten.
With Austin as the Cowboys' No. 1 receiver in name, he'll likely draw the unenviable task of working against the Jets' shut-down corner Darrelle Revis. This means that Bryant will probably be single covered by Antonio Cromartie.
While Cromartie is good in his own right, he is susceptible to letting up some big plays, and big-play ability is exactly what Bryant brings to the table.
Jets Player to Watch: RB Shonn Greene
Despite a successful 2010 campaign that saw the Jets go 11-5 and make it to the AFC Championship game, the team wasn't without holes. The defense was excellent throughout much of the season, but the offense left something to be desired.
Running back Shonn Greene was expected to become a feature back last season, but played well below expectations.
LaDainian Tomlinson played quite well in his place, but he slowed down noticeably as the season progressed. With that in mind, Greene is once again in a position to take the starting job and run with it.
If the Jets can create a true power running game with Greene to complement their defense, then they will instantly be Super Bowl favorites.
Key Matchup: Dallas Cowboys' WR Miles Austin vs. New York Jets' CB Darrelle Revis
Known as "Revis Island" thanks to his dominance in single coverage, Jets' cornerback Darrelle Revis is widely regarded as the league's best cover man. Generally speaking, Revis is capable of matching up with any receiver in the game and essentially taking him out of the game.
Revis will have a challenge ahead of him on Sunday night, though, as he will go head to head with the Cowboys' Miles Austin. At 6'2" and 215 lbs., Austin possesses a rare combination of size and speed that could prove problematic for Revis.
If Revis is able to handle Austin, then it could really slow Dallas' potent passing attack, but if Austin outfoxes Revis, then the Cowboys will have a huge advantage.
On the Hot Seat: Dallas Cowboys' K Dan Bailey
While most players' jobs are fairly safe to start the season, one position in particular that is quite uncertain is the Dallas Cowboys' kicker. Rookie Dan Bailey won the job, but last year's place kicker David Buehler will remain on the team for kickoffs.
Dallas certainly doesn't seem sold on Bailey, though, as evidenced by Dave Rayner and Shayne Graham being brought in during camp.
Should Bailey falter early, Dallas likely won't have any reservations about turning to Buehler despite his poor performance last season. This will definitely be something to look out for on Sunday night as a field goal could easily decide the game.
Prediction: Thanks to a high-octane passing attack and improved running game behind Felix Jones, the Cowboys will upset the Jets at the Meadowlands, 20-17.
