2011 NFL Mock Draft: Full 1st Round, Will Von Miller Fall to Cardinals?
With the NFL draft looming, teams are making their final analysis on the draft class. Talent is abundant and front office personnel must be drooling over the prospects who are available to them.
Plenty of intrigue looms with the strong core of defensive players and all the quarterback's futures still unknown.
Teams must make the right move their futures. Let's look at the final first round mock draft.
1. Carolina Panthers: Cam Newton
1 of 32
He shouldn't go here, but Carolina is desperate to have a playmaker at the position.
Other needs are necessary, but his skills are too much for the Panthers to pass up.
2. Denver Broncos: Marcell Dareus
2 of 32
Dareus is the best defensive lineman in the draft who can clog the middle.
John Fox will love him in the middle of his 4-3 scheme to help Denver's porous defensive.
3. Buffalo Bills: Blaine Gabbert
3 of 32
The Bills need a lot, but they grab their quarterback of the future in Gabbert.
He won't start right away and learn from Ryan Fitzpatrick.
4. Cincinnati Bengals: A.J. Green
4 of 32
A.J. Green is the best receiver in the draft and he will help the Bengals' playmaking ability immediately.
The question is, will Carson Palmer be throwing to him?
5. Arizona Cardinals: Von Miller
5 of 32
The Cardinals get lucky as Von Miller falls to them.
They need quarterback help too and, with Gabbert gone, Miller is the for-sure pick.
6. Cleveland Browns: Robert Quinn
6 of 32
Despite not playing last season due to suspension, Quinn is an elite pass-rusher for a 3-4 scheme.
He will help the Browns right away at pressuring the opposing quarterback.
7. San Francisco 49ers: Patrick Peterson
7 of 32
Maybe the best player in the draft, Peterson could become the next shutdown corner in the league.
The Niners need quite a few positions filled, but can't pass on Peterson at this point.
8. Tennessee Titans: Nick Fairley
8 of 32
The best season of any defensive player in college football last year, Fairley is an elite prospect at defensive tackle.
The Titans will like having him in the middle of their defense to stop the run, for years to come.
9. Dallas Cowboys: Tyron Smith
9 of 32
Smith has the potential to become an all-pro left tackle with good size and great feet.
The Cowboys always seem to have line problems, but Smith should help fill that void.
10. Washington Redskins: Julio Jones
10 of 32
He is a physical specimen who plays big on the outside, while still having that burst to get by defenders.
The Redskins have made some dumbfounded decisions before, but they can't pass on Jones at this spot.
11. Houston Texans: Aldon Smith
11 of 32
Smith was a very productive player at Missouri and could have a good future ahead.
The Texans need pass-rushing help and, although not projected as a 3-4 outside linebacker, Smith will help.
12. Minnesota Vikings: Jake Locker
12 of 32
Locker went from the definite No. 1 pick if he had come out last year, to mid-first round this year, although he shouldn't go until the late first round.
It's as if the Vikings are desperate to take him instead of passing and feeling uncertain about the future.
13. Detroit Lions: Prince Amukamara
13 of 32
Amukamara has top 10 potential as he is the next best corner behind Peterson.
The Lions feel lucky to pick up at No.13 as he will help on the outside immediately.
14. St. Louis Rams: Da'Quan Bowers
14 of 32
Bowers should be going in the top five, but questions about his knee are holding teams back.
The Rams need a receiver more than anything, but getting Bowers here is no problem.
15. Miami Dolphins: Mark Ingram
15 of 32
Mark Ingram is a physical runner and the best of this year's class.
The Dolphins went from a great running team a few years ago to below average last year, but Ingram should provide some good depth and help at the position.
16. Jacksonville Jaguars: J.J. Watt
16 of 32
Ryan Kerrigan could go here as well, but Watt is bigger and more physical and seems to have the motor that could ignite a team.
The Jaguars will love Watt's work ethic and strength coming off the edge.
17. New England Patriots (from Oakland): Anthony Castonzo
17 of 32
Castanzo is another very good offensive lineman from Boston College who should have a nice career.
The Patriots always look for value in their picks and they'll get it with left tackle Castanzo.
18. San Diego Chargers: Ryan Kerrigan
18 of 32
Kerrigan was very productive in his four years at Purdue by putting relentless pressure on quarterbacks.
The Chargers are looking desperately for pass-rush help and Kerrigan should help.
19. New York Giants: Nate Solder
19 of 32
Solder had a very solid year and is praised for having great feet.
The Giants need help at tackle and taking Solder here is a no-brainer.
20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Adrian Clayborn
20 of 32
Clayborn wasn't as productive his senior year compared to his junior season, but he still has plenty of talent to go this high.
The Bucs could use a receiver as well, but with no one worth taking here, Clayborn is the obvious choice.
21. Kansas City Chiefs: Derrek Sherrod
21 of 32
Sherrod is a solid tackle who should be able to play either spot in the league.
The Chiefs need help at the right tackle spot, to help especially in pass protection, and Sherrod should be able to play there right away.
22. Indianapolis Colts: Gabe Carimi
22 of 32
Plenty of offensive tackles coming off the board, with Carimi being the next one. He was extremely solid during his entire career at Wisconsin.
The Colts need help at tackle and Carimi is a no-brainer at this spot.
23. Philadelphia Eagles: Jimmy Smith
23 of 32
Smith is in the group of corners who are a notch below Peterson and Amukamara, but he still has the tools to be a good player.
The Eagles must address this spot and Smith is the best bet for them here.
24. New Orleans Saints: Corey Liuget
24 of 32
Liuget had some very good games this past season at Illinois, but can he put it all together.
The Saints need help in the middle and have a few options here, but Liuget seems to be the best bet.
25. Seattle Seahawks: Mike Pouncey
25 of 32
Yes another Pouncey, and another very good Pouncey who should see the success just like his brother Maurkice.
The Seahawks need o-line help and Pouncey should challenge at center or guard.
26. Baltimore Ravens: Aaron Williams
26 of 32
Williams was part of the very deep Texas secondary, and he held his own in the run-and-shoot Big 12.
The Ravens must address the cornerback spot and Williams is the best available.
27. Atlanta Falcons: Cameron Heyward
27 of 32
Heyward had a very productive career at Ohio State by making life for quarterbacks miserable.
The Falcons need help getting to the passer and Heyward will help with that.
28. New England Patriots: Brooks Reed
28 of 32
Reed was a sack machine in his time at Arizona, and we will see if it translates to the pros.
The Patriots addressed the o-line with their first pick and will now help getting to the quarterback with the pick of Reed.
29. Chicago Bears: Phil Taylor
29 of 32
Taylor is a big man who can clog the middle of the defense.
The Bears love drafting defensive linemen and Taylor is next in line.
30. New York Jets: Akeem Ayers
30 of 32
Ayers was a stud at UCLA and is a physical specimen at the outside linebacker spot.
The Jets need help here, and Ayers is by far the best available.
31. Pittsburgh Steelers: Brandon Harris
31 of 32
Harris is in the same tier as Williams and Smith at the corner spot.
Those two are gone, so the Steelers snatch him up late in the first.
32. Green Bay Packers: Jabaal Sheard
32 of 32
Another player who puts pressure on the quarterback being taken in the first round, is Sheard.
Packers could use someone to go along with Matthews, but the end spot is more of a need.
