LeBron James Talks Playing with Kevin Durant, More Amid Anthony Davis Comments

Tim DanielsDec 22, 2018

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James jokingly discussed playing with the Golden State Warriors' Kevin Durant, Milwaukee Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo and other top NBA players amid backlash about his comment that it would be "amazing" to play with the New Orleans Pelicans' Anthony Davis.

Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times provided James' tongue-in-cheek response to the situation:

The three-time NBA champion said he wasn't surprised by the response to his remark about Davis but didn't think he had crossed any lines.

"What'd I do?" James asked reporters. "What did I do? Was it right or wrong?"

Not everyone is so laid-back, though.

On Friday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported general managers from small-market teams are "privately expressing outrage" that the NBA's tampering rules are not strictly enforced.

"It's New Orleans' problem today and a problem with a different player tomorrow for the rest of us," an Eastern Conference GM told Woj. "It's open season on small markets and our players."

Davis, who's been heavily speculated as a potential Lakers addition as the team begins to build its roster around James, told ESPN's Zach Lowe he's not focused on what could happen in the future.

"I don't really care," Davis said. "Obviously, it's cool to hear any high-caliber player say they want to play with me. But my job is to turn this team around. If we're 15-17, that means I'm not doing my job."

James and the Lakers proceeded to score a 112-104 victory over Davis and the Pelicans on Friday night in Los Angeles.
