NBA Rumors: Spurs' Ime Udoka to Interview with Magic for HC Opening
San Antonio Spurs assistant Ime Udoka will reportedly interview for the Orlando Magic's vacant head coaching position this week, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Wojnarowski added that Udoka has already met with the Charlotte Hornets regarding their head coaching job.
The 40-year-old Udoka has been a Spurs assistant since 2012, as he took the position shortly after retiring as a player.
Udoka played in the NBA for seven seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, Portland Trail Blazers, Sacramento Kings and Spurs.
He spent three of his final four NBA seasons with the Spurs and finished with career averages of 5.2 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.
As a coach, Udoka is a one-time NBA champion, winning the 2014 title with the Spurs under Gregg Popovich.
Confirmed coaching candidates have been scarce for the Magic thus far, although Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel reported last week the team received permission to interview Blazers assistant David Vanterpool.
Orlando fired previous head coach Frank Vogel in April after he went 54-110 in two seasons.
The Magic have not reached the playoffs since 2011-12.
