Joel Embiid Released from Hospital, Out 2 or More Games with Possible Concussion
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid will miss at least the next two games after being released from the hospital on Thursday.
Per Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Embiid returned home after he was taken to the hospital following a collision with teammate Markelle Fultz in Wednesday's game against the New York Knicks.
Pompey added Embiid won't travel with the 76ers during their two-game road trip against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday and Charlotte Hornets on Sunday.
Embiid was injured in the second quarter when he attempted to set a pick, but his face collided with Fultz's shoulder.
Kyle Neubeck of the Philly Voice noted Embiid suffered a facial contusion, passed the initial concussion protocol, his X-rays came back negative and he was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons.
The 76ers have already clinched a playoff berth with a 44-30 record. Their eight-game winning streak is the longest active streak in the Eastern Conference, and they are only one-half game behind the Cleveland Cavaliers for the No. 3 seed in the postseason.
Embiid leads the Sixers with 22.9 points and 11 rebounds per game.
