Stephen Curry Cleared for Practice, Hopes to Return from Ankle Injury This Week

Alec NathanMar 20, 2018

The Golden State Warriors announced Tuesday that point guard Stephen Curry has been cleared to participate in full practices beginning Wednesday, "with the goal of returning to play later this week."

Curry has missed the Warriors' last six games after tweaking his right ankle on March 8 against the San Antonio Spurs.

The Warriors—who are 2-4 since Curry hit the shelf—don't play again until Friday's game against the Atlanta Hawks at Oracle Arena. According to ESPN.com's Chris Haynes and Ramona Shelburne, Curry is "targeting" that home tilt for his return.

It's especially welcome news for the defending champions considering Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson have both been snakebitten by medical woes over the past week. Durant was ruled out for two weeks March 16 with an incomplete rib cartilage fracture, while Thompson hit the injury report March 14 with a fractured right (shooting) thumb.

Thompson is scheduled to be re-evaluated Thursday, per USA Today's Sam Amick. Citing a source, Amick added Curry's fellow Splash Brother could be back as early as Friday or "soon thereafter."
