Timberwolves Rumors: Minnesota Has Free-Agent Interest in Ian Clark

Joseph ZuckerJul 26, 2017

The Minnesota Timberwolves still have shooting guard Ian Clark on their free-agent radar, Darren Wolfson of ESPN 1500 in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Wolfson added that Clark turned down other teams who had offered him a minimum contract.

Clark appeared in 77 games last year for the Golden State Warriors. He was a steady contributor off the bench, averaging 16.7 points and 2.8 assists per 36 minutes, according to Basketball Reference. He also shot 37.4 from beyond the arc.

Harden: Fatigue Not Excuse

The Los Angeles Times' Brad Turner reported last Thursday the Los Angeles Lakers were interested in signing Clark, but the Times' Tania Ganguli reported Tuesday the Lakers were no longer considering the 26-year-old shooting guard.

The Timberwolves traded for Jimmy Butler and signed Jamal Crawford, so they aren't desperate for depth at 2-guard. Still Clark would be a low-cost option at both guard positions and give head coach Tom Thibodeau a little more roster flexibility.
