Kyle Lowry Reportedly Expected to Return to Raptors, Could Make $27M Per Year

Rob GoldbergJul 1, 2017

While Kyle Lowry is keeping his options open in free agency, a return to the Toronto Raptors is starting to seem more likely.

According to Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today, there is a "growing sense among NBA executives" that the point guard will sign with his former team. His projected deal would be for three years at $27 million per season.

Per Michael Grange of Sportsnet, the Raptors are "confident" they will re-sign both Lowry and Serge Ibaka this offseason.

David Aldridge of Turner Sports reported Friday the Minnesota Timberwolves could also try to sign the point guard.

Lowry is coming off arguably the best year of his career, setting new highs with 22.4 points per game and a 46.4 field goal percentage. He also added 7.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game while reaching the All-Star Game for the third straight season.

The Raptors also won over 50 games in each of the last two years, the only time this feat has been accomplished in its history. Retaining Lowry alongside DeMar DeRozan should keep the squad competitive in what has become a weaker Eastern Conference in recent days.
