Lonzo Ball Pitches LeBron James on Joining Lakers, Says He's Ready to Lead
Lonzo Ball hasn't even joined the Los Angeles Lakers yet, but he's already working as a pitchman to sell LeBron James on signing with the team.
The former UCLA Bruins star was a guest on SC6 on Wednesday and said he and James would complement one another on the court (it begins at the 4:22 mark of the video below):
Ball also told ESPN's Jemele Hill and Michael Smith that he'd be willing to assume a leadership role for his new team right away.
While the idea of James landing in Los Angeles may sound like a long shot, The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Tuesday that the trade sending point guard D'Angelo Russell and center Timofey Mozgov to the Brooklyn Nets was in part about creating enough cap space to add both LeBron and Paul George.
Earlier in the month, Wojnarowski (h/t Pro Basketball Talk's Dan Feldman) reported some in the league believe James would consider signing with either the Lakers or Los Angeles Clippers.
The fact Ball would even entertain the idea of playing with James in Los Angeles is seemingly a strong indicator he's confident the Lakers will select him with the second overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft Thursday.
In his most recent mock draft, ESPN.com's Chad Ford had the Lakers taking Ball. Russell's departure also created a spot for Ball in the team's backcourt.
Whether or not signing LeBron is a realistic possibility, the pressure on Ball to deliver immediate returns on the court will be immense should the Lakers make him a part of their quest back to playoff contention.
