Isaiah Thomas Says Celtics Being Counted Out by Experts Is 'Just Crazy'
The Boston Celtics enter the postseason as the Eastern Conference's No. 1 seed for the first time in nine years, but star point guard Isaiah Thomas still thinks his team isn't getting the respect it deserves.
Per ESPN.com's Chris Forsberg, Thomas shared his frustration with what he's hearing from analysts about the Celtics heading into the postseason:
"I watch TV, so I see all the B.S. that they talk, and they're counting us out already. I'm used to it, I guess. It's just crazy.
Nobody gives us our due. We're the No. 1 seed, and then they say we're one of the worst No. 1 seeds. If anybody else was the No. 1 seed, it'd be like: 'They might get to the Finals.' It's always something, but we try not to worry about that stuff and just try to take care of business on the court.
"
The Celtics went 53-29 during the regular season, finishing two games ahead of the Cleveland Cavaliers for the top spot in the East and their best record since 2010-11.
Despite their regular-season success, the Celtics are tied with the Houston Rockets for fourth in best odds to win the NBA championship, per OddsShark.com.
The last time Boston was the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference was 2007-08, when it won the NBA Finals by defeating the Los Angeles Lakers in six games.
