LeBron James Posts Career-High 10th Triple-Double Tuesday

Bleacher Report MilestonesMar 16, 2017

Cleveland Cavaliers legend LeBron James dropped 16 points, 12 assists and 11 rebounds during Tuesday's 128-96 victory over the Detroit Pistons, recording his 10th triple-double of the season. The output marked his first time during the course of his career he has reached double-digit triple-doubles, per NBA.com.

The King—at 32 years old and in his 14th NBA campaign—is having one of the best statistical seasons of his career. Through 66 games this season, LeBron is averaging 25.9 points and career highs in both assists (8.9) and rebounds (8.4). James has also shot 38.5 percent from beyond the arc on 4.6 attempts per game—his best percentage since he shot 40.6 percent on 3.3 attempts per game in 2012-13 with the Miami Heat.

While he was already having a stellar season, his production has soared since teammate Kevin Love underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee on Feb. 14. In the 11 tilts that James has participated in since Love has been sidelined, he is averaging 26.6 points while shooting 57.3 percent from the field and 42.1 percent from three. He's added 11.2 rebounds and 9.4 assists across 37.2 minutes per game during that timeframe, per Basketball-Reference.

The Cavaliers' firm grasp on the top seed in the Eastern Conference has slipped a bit recently. The club now holds just a two-game advantage over the Boston Celtics and a 3.5-game lead over the Washington Wizards with 16 games remaining on their regular-season schedule. While it's certainly not a requirement that Cleveland earns the top spot to reach the NBA Finals, it would likely make the path a bit easier.
