Atlanta Hawks Sign Jose Calderon to Contract
Jose Calderon's whirlwind week will have a happy ending, as the Atlanta Hawks announced Saturday that they have signed the veteran point guard. Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical initially reported the move was completed earlier in the day.
ESPN's Marc Stein first reported the Hawks' intention to sign Calderon on Friday.
Earlier this week, Calderon thought he would be playing for the Golden State Warriors. He agreed to a deal with the defending Western Conference champions on Wednesday.

In light of the injury to Kevin Durant, the Warriors waived Calderon hours after he was signed to make room for Matt Barnes. The team announced the signing of Barnes, who will fill in for Durant, on Thursday.
Per Stein, the Hawks will be on the hook for the $400,000 on Calderon's contract through the rest of this season since they claimed him off waivers.
The Hawks had an open roster spot for Calderon, so they didn't have to make an additional move to sign him. The 35-year-old started this season playing for the Los Angeles Lakers, though he only appeared in 24 games due to a hamstring injury before being waived on February 27.
Calderon will give Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer versatility off the bench. He can play either guard position, though he's played the point most of his career, and has been a terrific long-range shooter with a 41.1 success rate from three-point range in 12 NBA seasons.
