Hull City vs. Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp's Key Pre-Match Press Conference Comments

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has responded to Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho's suggestion that officials treat him differently to his Premier League counterparts leading up to Saturday's clash at Hull City.

The German tactician spoke to the media on Thursday and said he had "no idea" why Mourinho referred to him and Arsenal chief Arsene Wenger following United's 0-0 draw against Hull, per the Mirror's Joe Mewis.

"It's [an] emotional game. We all know what we can do. Maybe I was lucky that [the] fourth official said something like that," Klopp said. "I was worse when I was younger. I have already improved. I’ve no idea why he spoke about me."

Klopp came under scrutiny after shouting in the fourth official's face during Tuesday's 1-1 draw against Premier League leaders Chelsea.

The Press Association's Andy Hampson provided footage of Mourinho's comments on Wednesday evening, where he appeared to suggest Klopp and Wenger are treated with a softer approach:

The Reds have now gone four matches without a win across all competitions and may have been glad to take a point from Chelsea following embarrassing home defeats to Swansea City and Wolverhampton Wanderers in recent weeks.

Saturday's hosts may sit just one point off the bottom and 29 points below Liverpool, but Klopp is nonetheless expecting a big challenge from manager Marco Silva's side, per Anfield HQ:

Klopp also took the opportunity to state just how much he's enjoying his time at Anfield almost 16 months after arriving on Merseyside as a replacement for Brendan Rodgers in October 2015:

The day is not long enough to do what other people want. We are still not too bad - so let’s go for it. I love being here, I know it’s a real challenge to be successful in this league. Everyone has an opinion - but we have to stay concentrated and do the job.

Mourinho wasn't the only manager on the former Borussia Dortmund boss' agenda on Thursday, either, as Manchester City's 4-0 thumping of West Ham United drew his attention to Pep Guardiola.

The Citizens chief has encountered criticism for failing to lift his men higher in the Premier League table during his first season in charge, but Klopp found cause to laud his talents after Wednesday's win, per This Is Anfield:

Days after the winter transfer window closed, the Reds boss was also lured back into transfer chatter and hinted Mamadou Sakho still has a Liverpool future after joining Crystal Palace on loan for the rest of the season.

Simon Jones and Tom Bassam of MailOnline confirmed the temporary move for a £2 million fee, and Goal's Melissa Reddy quoted Klopp, who suggested the France international could still redeem himself at Anfield:

Liverpool are still within reach of the Premier League summit but sit 10 points off Chelsea and need to happen upon a vein of form quickly if they're to reignite their title aspirations.

Hull have lost just twice in their last five matches, though, and look like a rejuvenated team under Silva, with Klopp wary of the surprise that could await his team in Yorkshire.
